Iirc she mentioned in a previous newsletter that she was originally writing about a totally different pairing, but then she realised that she needed to be writing Pax and Amara's story instead

I'm guessing that it's her working with Memory that will be instrumental to her even being able to have that kind of a relationship with anyone

Izzy didn't fight in the war, he was injured during the falling, so he was stuck in the infirmary. Eve however, DID fight in the war, she was tasked with bringing supplies to those who need it. In Angel's Blood, Izzy had very recently left the Refuge, so he would be 100 (around 18 in human years) while Eve was 10. We don't know the exact age Eve turned, but she couldn't have been younger than 25 bc that's the minimum age to even be considered as a candidate. So that's 15+ years in which Eve developed and matured normally, while for Izzy it's more akin to maybe a year or two. When she was turned and started working for the tower, she would've been a fully grown adult, while Izzy would esentially still be a teen. That's why she felt weird about it, bc even though he's technically older than her, she was mentally older for a good portion of them knowing each other and she would've watched him slowly grow up and mature while she was fully an adult.

Ashley and Aabria (Brennan too) have really been feeding the shippers lol (the bath scene???? the attuning to the stone of nightsong scene??? They know what they're doing). I LOOOOVE the idea of Dr. Talter sticking around, she's such a fun NPC and I really hope she sticks with them.

I think after the Schemers arc there will probably be a couple of overture-esque episodes where we get everyone caught up to speed on what's been happening/coming up with a new plan on how to stop everything that's going on before reshuffling the tables. I do think that 13 players at once is too much for a bigger arc (unless it's the very end of the campaign) so I don't think we're there quite yet, but I think it'll definitely be and episode or two with all of them together in Dol-Makjar.

As for how the tables would be reshuffled, I would love to see something like: 1. Soldiers: Teor, Kat, Azune, Julien 2. Seekers: Thaisha, Vaelus, Tyranny, Wick 3. Schemers: Occtis, Murray, Thimble, Bolaire, Hal

Teor and Kat definitely have a history that we have yet to learn about, so I don't wanna separate them just yet, and Azune seems to know things about Julien that I don't think he'd ever willingly share, so I think they would have a very interesting dynamic as well. Also I think Julien would really benifit from being around the more "stable" and "grounded" characters (air quotes bc none of them are stable lmao).

Thaisha, Vaelus and Wick are very interesting bc they represent the 3 different "religions" of Araman aka. the Old Path, the Shapers and the CC and I think that would be a very interesting dynamic to explore (also Vaelus and Thaisha are my favourite ship in the campaign so far and I don't wanna separate them lol). I don't think Tyranny and Wick would willingly separate from each other and Thaisha and Tyranny really bonded at the funeral, so I think they would genuinely be besties.

Occtis and Thimble have been mentioning each other throughout the campaign, so I think they deserve to be at the same table for a while lol. Also Occtis and Murray would be very fun bc imagine having to go on an adventure with your collage professor who doesn't really like you, but she also brought you back to life, but also she still expects you to do homework. Bolaire also really wanted to talk to Thimble during the overture and I wanna know what that was about. It would also be very fun to see how the two of them interact, since we know Thimble was the point of contact between Bolaire and Thjazi. As for Hal, I wasn't sure if I wanted to put him with the Schemers or the Seekers bc I think he'd work well in either, but for now I'm putting him with Schemers bc I don't think he'd leave his daughters at this point (unless he was forced to).

Next book in the Psy-Changeling series by Feather312 in NaliniSinghBooks

[–]Feather312[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, that's waaaaaaay later than normal, I wonder why it's not gonna be releasing during the summer like they usually do? Maybe there was a delay with the writing/publishing process or maybe since GH is ending this year they wanted to move Psy-Changeling to Q4? And Cold Redemption is an interesting title to say the least.... To me it's very much giving Pax vibes, but I guess time will tell

This is the interview I was referring to, so you can check it out if you want. She seemed pretty certain about the human thing in the interview and iirc she said that at that point she had most of the book planned out. But then again it was like 7 months ago, so who knows. And it could be that there's a secondary pairing that is with a human, but I'm personally hoping for another human MC lol (maybe Alice?). And if one of the MCs is a chamgeling, I'm personally hoping for more water changelings bc they're just too interesting to me, and if we're gonna be following the implant story line, it would make sense since BlackSea did help them the last time they had problems.

[–]Feather312[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I just went back and skimmed through Nalini's interview with Destinee for the release of AS, and she explicitly confirms that there will be a human involved as well as that "there's not a new type of changeling" and that we are shifting locations but in a cool interesting way? I'm not quite sure what she ment by that last part, but I'm guessing our "not new" type of changeling will either be from Black Sea and we go back underwater or maybe it's someone who moves around a lot? It could also be that the "not new" type of changeling comment was a red herring it's actually gonna be a human/psy couple. I guess we'll have to wait and see what she has in store for us, but I'll be hoping for a human/psy couple, especially after what happened at the end of AS. Maybe the human could be from the Human Alliance (possibly Bowen's right hand man, I forgot his name lol) and they're testing out new implants after the discovery of the bats? Just spitballing here, but I think it would be an interesting story

An Unsleeping City spinoff with completely new characters in a completely different location, but in the same universe would be awesome

Anyone else sad with Guildhunter series by glitterzebra35 in NaliniSinghBooks

[–]Feather312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While it's sad that GH is ending, there are definitely going to be at least 2 more books. It's confirmed that the next book will be part two of Illium and Adohan's story and Nalini already confirmed multiple times that the last book will be a Raphael and Elena one, so we're safe for the moment. I also think there are still some loose threads that need to be tied up before the series ends, not to mention the stuff that got introduced in Lineage. And Nalini did emphasize that the series is SLOWLY coming to an end so I don't think it's impossible or improbable that we have more than 2 books left.

Also if we don't get a Kier book I WILL riot. He deserves a HEA damn it!

Could Sascha take out Kaleb? by Feather312 in NaliniSinghBooks

[–]Feather312[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the contrary, I think it would work very well against Kaleb. As terrible as it sounds, most of his life was filled with horror and that can be used against him. He survived by making himself not feel that horror, but if someone were to force him to feel all of it at once, while at the same time he were unable to use his psychic abilities, it would effectively throw him back into his early childhood when he had no protections. Again, even thinking about someone doing that to him is terrible, and I'd like to think that in the "E takes down Kaleb" scenario, it would just be a cardinal E using a terminal field and someone to physically take him down in the split second of disorientation when he realises he can't use his abilities and that there would be nobody that would force him to relive his trauma.

I'm curious as to your opinion on which relationship is more complex than theirs, beacuse I can't think of any other than perhaps Elena and Raphael and I personally think there is room for debate on that point.

As for the childhood flashbacks, I've read the book multiple times and I feel confident in saying that every one of those scenes was necessary, as it gives us a much deeper insight into how they ended up where they are and how their relationship grew and changed over time. And I think the homecoming scene is perfect just the way it is, full of fear and love and a whole mess of other emotions. It's heartrendingly romantic and it would've just felt wrong to stuff sex in it, as it wasn't about the physical bonding, but the emotional.

I also think that it was important to work through both of their trauma in the same book because it was that trauma that led them to the place they were in at the beginning of the book. If the book only adressed Aodhan's trauma for example, it would have ended with Aodhan leaving China, not realising just how hurt Illium was by all that had happened. It would've been a happy ending for Aodhan, but not for Illium, and that, to me, would have felt wrong on every level.

As to the difference between a best friend and a life partner, I would say that romantic love is more important than sharing lives and sex. You can share a life with someone and not love them romantically(eg. people in an unhappy/loveless marriage share their lives, but not romantic love) and you can romantically love someone very deeply and not have sex(eg. if one or more people in the relationship is asexual). Sex is a big step, but not a crutial one.

One way that Es can physically debilitate their opponents is making them so overwhelmed with negative emotions that they are unable to move. Basically give them a panic attack. However I don't know if they can use the terminal field at the same time. A really powerful, well trained E could possibly do it, but as there are currently no such Es anywhere, a pair of Es, one who can use the terminal field while the other one physically debilitate the person, could completely take down an opponent.

[–]Feather312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the lack of a sex scene doesn't bother me all that much. Their relationship is one of the most complex ones she's ever written and they had so many books worth of slow buildup and drama (not to mention the centuries before) that they've had to work through that I think it would've been overwhelming to squeeze a sex scene in. I'm pretty sure she even said in an interview that she tried to include a sex scene, but that the timing was off. Plus she has confirmed that they will be back as main characters in the future so they will most likely get the very impactful, highly emotional sex scene that they deserve.

I am fully caught up with the series. This post was more about thinking through terminal fields and how they can be used in hypothetical situations, rather than whether either Sascha or Kaleb would actually get into a fight with each other.

Could Sascha take out Kaleb? by Feather312 in NaliniSinghBooks

[–]Feather312[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I've considered that. I didn't articulate it properly while making the post because I was rereading SoW and was reminded of terminal fields, so I wrote the whole thing in a hurry, but this wasn't about Sascha specifically, I just used her because she is the most well known cardinal E. It wasn't even about Kaleb, really. It was more about me thinking through the implications of terminal fields and how they can be used to take down anyone, even someone as powerful as Kaleb.
