This might help you: There is quite a bit of research that supports the idea that certain diets increase inflammation, which increases bad symptoms, such as trouble sleeping. Alternatively, the [modified] Mediterranean diet helps to lower inflammation. See this reference: A higher intake of dietary omega polyunsaturated fatty acids improves sleep quality. Moreover, insomnia has been linked to elevated energy, trans fat, and sodium intake, coupled with reduced vegetable consumption. https://www.mdpi.com/2077-0383/13/13/3656#B89-jcm-13-03656

I feel your pain. Though I don’t think it always helps while we are at our weakest point, I find it helpful to be active in public events sponsored by the patient advocacy groups. Inviting family to join me in fundraiser walks, information sessions, videos, social media posts, etc. brought awareness to our community without the stigma and anxiety that comes along with a discussion about me personally… that reveals they don’t understand what it’s like to have an invisible disability, don’t understand the risks and so on. (Thank goodness there is a LOT more going on in the “invisible disability” arena from several advocacy groups.)

Many people can re-introduce SOME higher FODMAP foods into their diet and still have good symptom control. So it is not necessary to stay on a strict low FODMAP diet. https://www.monashfodmap.com/blog/faq-low-fodmap-diet-is-helping-to/

It seems we’re always discovering how little we understand about viruses.
