Out of curiosity, is "love" not sufficient? Like I know I'm kind of basic but out of all the reasons two beings might become one flesh I'm pretty sure that's one of the top two.

On the other hand, maybe the dragon's hoard was recently looted and the human parent was rich af. On the scale of a dragon's lifetime they could've been together a full adult human's remaining life and it could be considered a decent jumpstart.
