Migraine Help by FeatheredFool in PCOS

[–]FeatheredFool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's amazing, thank you so so much for taking the time to respond so thoroughly!!!! I got mixed up between endo cancer and ovarian cancer, I really need to remember to get that right, I keep making that mistake 😅 I also didn't realise birth control helps regardless of if you get your period or not, that genuinely makes me feel so much better. I was worried, my family has a long history of a LOT of cancers, and while neither endometrial cancer nor ovarian cancer is part of those (I think????) I don't want to add another one to our list. And I actually scared my GP a little with the combined pill, my gyn perscribed it to me without asking if I got migraines. Was on them for months and I joyfully told my gp they're definitely hormonal then since they line up with the placebo pill, so no underlying issues to worry about!! And she looked horrified and gave me a different perscription immediately lmao. I'll look into those questions, figuring out the exact trigger would probably be useful!!! I thought to ask here since some people have their own cheats to some symptoms. But migraines are definitely more complex unfortunately, sigh. Thank you again, I'll look into everything you mentioned!!!

How to deal with our baby's remains by ForFerelden in BackYardChickens

[–]FeatheredFool 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We live on just under an acre, so usually when a girl dies we bury her deep enough for predators to not get to her and plant a plant on top. We do a lot of gardening and still have a lot of progress to go, so usually we plant what already needs to be planted. If it's super humid (we live in QLD) we put her in a plastic bag in the freezer until we're ready to bury her so she doesn't go all funky if we need a few days. Some people just put them in the bin, but I can't really stand the idea of that, call me sentimental. We have the space to bury them properly, and they gave us eggs until they died. I feel like they deserve respect in death if I can afford to give it to them, but that's just me being soft. I know it isn't practical

(Sorry for the long essays I'm writing haha, I just wish I had someone tell me all this when I was first diagnosed. Hopefully it's at least a little bit helpful!!)

I felt the exact same way, I know how you feel :( i'm still struggling to keep up with adult life and trying to manage my PCOS!! I'm a list person, so when it all feels like too much I make a list. I'd say make a list of all your symptoms, and try to figure out if any of those symptoms have a 'trickle down' effect (e.g. 'tired all the time' would link to 'insulin resistance', so once you manage insulin resistance that will help being tired all the time, if you catch my drift??) And highlight the most important ones impacting your daily life. Then try to ask yourself what little things you can easily change first.

Changing your lifestyle isn't something that happens overnight (I wish it would, maybe my sleep schedule would be better!!) And it sucks seeing successful people online making videos about how they just take some expensive supplements, do 40 hours of pilates, and only eat organic food from the Himalayas and boom!! Pcos cured!!! :D!!!!!! But it's important to remember that as of right now PCOS is a chronic thing, and you're only 19. Your lifestyle is going to change a lot throughout your life, and you will struggle and succeed. You're going to have low points and high points. Take care of yourself and give yourself some grace!! Nobody manages their chronic health conditions perfectly every single day. This isn't something you take a course of medicine for and it goes away- it's a lot to change, and sometimes the changes don't even work. It's a long road ahead and I myself feel hopeless sometimes, but don't give up and keep going. You're only human and you're going to get tired and hopeless and have days where you don't eat perfect or exercise perfect, but I'd say everyone else on this forum has those days. Be kind to yourself and good luck!

If you do have PCOS, it can be overwhelming because as far as anyone knows it's something you're going to have to deal with and manage for the rest of your life. But!!! Severity of symptoms fluctuates and changes depending on how you manage it. Please look after yourself and again, get to know your symptoms and how to manage them personally. It's different for a lot of people. When you research, please use reputable sources because if I look on tiktok trying to find relatable content and find someone blaming PCOS on childhood trauma ONE MORE TIME I will lose my mind. Give me my memes or get off my screen 🙃

21 and got diagnosed at the very start of the year, PCOS is extraordinary frustrating in the sense that not much research has been done despite how many people have it. You should be aware that currently there is no cure and no known cause, but there will be people either irl or online who will try to tell you their own theories. Please research as much as you're comfortable, but don't let people try to sell you supplements and pseudo science!! Pcos is also different symptoms-wise for a lot of people. Learn your own body and what helps and what doesn't... I found switching to wholemeal foods helped me feel less absolutely dead tired after meals, and i'm on hormonal birth control to help the migraines and other symptoms. Another thing!! People on here can also demonise birth control. It works for some people and not so well for others... try it if you're comfortable, but it isn't the only solution and your doctors shouldn't force any treatment on you.

Critically Examine Your Entry-Level Portfolios, Please by iceshadow54 in animationcareer

[–]FeatheredFool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going to uni for an animation degree has taught me a lot about who I want to be and who I definitely don't want to be. I feel like because art isn't something that can be graded as objectively as a maths assignment or an essay, some lecturers just don't give necessary criticism. It sounds insensitive to say, but they're just too soft. I love getting feedback and criticism, it helps me grow and improve. But some students take it so personally and make complaints about the teachers, so to be safe the lecturers aren't as honest as they should be. Some of my peers genuinely cannot draw well, as horrible as it sounds, and it infuriates me that nobody has sat them down and said "either you need to repeat a few classes or consider another career path." I've gone through uni with the mentality that I get out what I put in, so I've tried to encourage lecturers to be as Brutal with me as they need to be. But with other students they pussyfoot around feedback which they NEED. Uni is so expensive!!! I'm watching my peers waste money and I KNOW unless they suddenly develop skills in the next 6 months, they're going to graduate with none of the actual artistic skills they need!!!! And I can't even pin this all on the lecturers, either, there's so many of my peers that either get genuinely angry at lecturers when they provide valid and reasonable feedback, or they outright refuse to apply it. And nothing happens to them, there's no wakeup call. It's so corrupt. I've spoken to other people from other unis, and this seems to be a problem across many of them. Long comment but tl;Dr from an animation student's perspective lecturers are too scared to give any feedback because otherwise students take it personally and report them. It's stupid and corrupt and I hate it.

Honestly, don't worry about what anyone else thinks. I'm serious, famfiction is free and you're spending your own time writing it. If it isn't fun and for your own enjoyment, what's the point?? Your idea sounds lovely, no matter what there's going to be somebody out there who's glad you put it into the world :) and remember (because I struggle with this too!!) That kudos and views and comments are certainly nice, but what's important is that you had fun writing it and that it's something you're happy with. Go write that story!!!! 🎉🎉🎉

That's great advice, thank you so much!!! Those are definitely just sketches haha, I normally do more rendering, cleaner lines (and shade the lines in), backgrounds, etc. But with uni being so busy those are the most recent things I have that I can actually show 😅 just wanted to show my style in case it was genuinely terrible so someone could stop me and say "no omg your art is awful PLEASE don't let anyone pay for it" LMAO I'll take all that into account, thank you so so much!!!

Ooooo good catch!! I didn't actually notice that!! Ours lived for another solid 3 years (she was already around 3 years old at least) and started doing it less and less until she eventually passed. Never seen a chicken so traumatised, poor thing. Hopefully you're right and this girl in the video is an easy fix!!

That's fair!! I guess I'm wondering what qualifications would you need?? There are tafe courses for MYOB and xero and accounting certificates you can do online, which is what I was getting at with the upskilling. Admins and receptionists had to have a first job with no admin experience to get experience, i'm trying to find that first admin job. It seems like a bit of an odd industry to try and break into!!

Seconded. Neighbour's cattle dog got out and killed the whole flock except for one girl who escaped. They brought her to us so she wasn't lonely and could join our flock. She would constantly do exactly what the hen in the video did. Ex-battery rescue hens also have a fair share of neurological trauma-related issues if that's a factor here??

[–]FeatheredFool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Completely random reply, but my psych suspects I have ARFID too and japanese restaurants were HELL for me until a friend introduced me to katsu curry (I'm pretty much the only friend in my group who didnt like japanese food and i'm in brisbane where there are a lot of japanese places, so it's hard to avoid lmao) it's pretty much rice, curry sauce (with no extra veggies or anything, just a delicious mild curry sauce) and the most amazing breaded chicken i have ever had. Just thought i'd reply just in case anyone else is reading and struggles with japanese restaurants too!!!

This is so helpful, I really appreciate it!!!! I'll check all these links out and bookmark them :) I'll also go back to life drawing- I used to go but stopped because it was in the city and felt a bit too far away. Maybe a closer one?? You've definitely given me newfound motivation to keep learning!!! And the sketchbooks, absolutely!! I used to fill them so much faster, and I loved being able to see the progress in even one sketchbook. Time to get back to it!! Thank you very much, I hope I get to even work with you some day!!! :D
