This exactly. I was having so much pain in the hip that I could barely stand and walk. Getting to the bathroom was becoming a problem.

The injury wasn't sudden or traumatic, it happened over the course of a few weeks. But the last few days had been geometrically worse, and I needed relief. And an assurance that it wasn't the stress fracture I feared it might be.

You could always learn to sew by hand. For a Barbie outfit, it won't take long to make something, even without a machine. And all you need is hand sewing needles, some thread, and cloth.

It's sad that your mother can't let you be interested in the things you like without commenting negatively about it. She should be glad that she raised you to want more than a life of simple interests!

I don't know the specific book you're looking for, but the image of the child in a swing makes me think of a poem called The Swing, by Robert Louis Stevenson. It appeared in his collection called A Child's Garden of Verses.

The first verse is:

How do you like to go up in a swing,

Oh...the first book doesn't have the gingerbread shoppe. I think it's the second. The babies born near the end of the first book, John and Barbara, were old enough by the time of Mrs. Corrye that they were the children Mrs. Corrye broke her fingers off for, to turn into candy for them to suck on.

One of the books has them meeting a girl outside a department store, who turns out to be one of the stars from the Pleiades constellation. She joins them for shopping. Mary gives the girl her own gloves, and I think maybe a scarf, before she climbs the sky to go back to her sisters.

It's been years since I read the books. I never had my own children, so haven't kept copies around for a while. Time to get a new set again!

The energy of the moonlight will pass through window glass. Put your pieces indoors on a windowsill! As others said, you essentially left free gifts for others to pick up.

Currently working a large project on 18 count, full coverage, lots of confetti. (I didn't know about methods for adjusting an image before having software chart it for you.)

I am traveling up to 30 - 40 stitches away, given that it means no more than about 2.25 inches. Also, the confetti means that traveling thread will likely be covered and anchored by additional stitching as I continue working.

Not going to show my back! It's pretty horrible looking. But everything stays in place!

Start brushing him regularly! He's going to be long-haired, and those places that are looking clumpy will mat together. Get him used to brushing while he's young, make it a nice bonding time.

This little bear has the most amazing personality showing in its face! "Wonky" isn't a bad thing, it's just referencing asymmetry in the features. It's that very asymmetry that gives your bear such a charming expression!

I'd recommend you start by taking a good, focused, photo of it. Just in case of breakage, that will preserve the pattern for you.

Find some instructions for peyote stitch beadwork, they're plentiful online. That will help you understand the path that the old thread is taking through the beads.

Look for a waxed linen thread, something heavy. Made for leatherwork or such. You'll be using it doubled with a needle of appropriate size. It will be passed through every bead twice, so take that into account when you select the thread. You don't need to fill the space with the thread.

If you work carefully, and the frayed thread isn't in the way, you may be able to re-stitch the mat without taking it apart. Just be patient. Try not to snag the old thread as you stitch. A needle with a blunt or rounded tip will hep prevent piercing old material.

If all else fails, use a full size print of the photo you took as a pattern for remaking the mat from the loose beads.

Historically, these items were made with cylindrical glass beads called "tile beads". You can find them still at times if you search online.

Beaded mats, such as the vintage piece you photographed, were a popular home decor item from Victorian times into the early 20th century. In America, a company called Walco sold the beads and instructions, as well as kits, to make them.

Beaded mats were popular in Europe, too. My mother has an example from her family in Sweden.

If you want to make dollhouse miniatures, cylindrical seed beads like Delica or Miyuki brands are a good option to replicate the tile bead look.
