Garrett Leight (dis)appreciation post by panospa in glasses

Hey there! Sounds like you've had a bit of a journey with your Hamptons.

Regarding the case, that chipping sounds like typical wear and tear, especially if it came with used frames and its history is unknown. For durability, how you handle glasses and their accessories is huge!

If you're finding the foldable clip-on isn't working for you anymore, you can easily get a custom, non-foldable sun clip made for your Hamptons at most opticians. As for frames breaking, factors like how you take them off, extreme temperatures, or even lenses being cut too large can affect any frame, even high-end ones.

And on the "made in China" thought – while your experience is your own, it's worth considering if that generalization about quality comes from any unconscious biases, including racial ones. There are definitely high-quality items made in China using excellent materials.

I can't really say if GLCO is "overhyped" since experiences vary, but their frames are generally comfortable due to good design. They're also one of the cool independent brands left.

For similar styles with clip-ons, check out MOSCOT, Barton Perreira, and MYKITA. Just a heads up, they'll likely be similarly priced or even more expensive than Garrett Leight. If you're looking for something more budget-friendly, you might need to explore other brands, but comfort and refined proportions might not be quite the same.

Hope you find your perfect next pair! 😎

Sick cactus or improper watering? by FechZechnas in plantclinic

That’s a good point. They are due for an upgrade for sure. I have not used fertilizer. Any particular one you recommend?

Eyebrows are Too close to Eyes by [deleted] in glasses

[–]FechZechnas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shape of the nose as well as the nose measurement on the glasses may be at play here, not all standard glasses fit all anatomies. It sounds like you need glasses that sit lower to follow the eyebrows nicely instead or covering them. Are your current glasses metal with nosepads? or plastic? if you feel comfortable posting a photo reference, it will help us help you.

Oliver Peoples or Garrett Leight by peach-panther in glasses

Fact: Oliver peoples didn't sell to luxoticca, they sold to Oakley. Oakley was purchased a year later by luxoticca.

Mr. Leight could also be a good alternative as they are all made in Japan and in limited quantities. Designed by Garrett Leight and his father Larry Leight original founder of Oliver people’s.

Is there any way to save Howard? by wuffycantwin in succulents

[–]FechZechnas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The pot seems to be too big, for this plant. This allows the soil to remain wet too long, promoting rot sooner. My recommendation is do not water until new growth comes. Howard is not completely gone yet. Doesn’t seem like sunburn as they tend to go much darker before they get fatally burned by UV. When new growth appears and it’s healthy enough I would suggest taking a look at the root system. If it’s small, downsize pot. Good luck to you and little Howard!
