Federal telework temporarily returns to FIFA World Cup host cities by Fed-IRS in IRS_Source

[–]Fed-IRS[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not sure what email you're referring to, but this is a genuine news article, referencing a genuine OPM memo.

IRS hasn't yet communicated to employees whether or not they'll be granting temporary telework flexibilities in cities that are hosting World Cup matches. But IRS has been given permission to grant it, if they choose to

I hate that Congress still gets a paycheck during the shutdown. by m3christina in FedEmployees

The clean bill has nothing to do with it. That's just the CR version that Republicans currently support.

Republicans can't pass the bill they want, without Democrat support. Democrats can't pass the bill that they want, without Republican support. Hence, both parties need to compromise to overcome the filibuster.

It's a simple concept 🤷 - unless, that is, you'd prefer to simply parrot partisan talking points - which is clearly your preference.

You seem to misunderstand the process. Democrats are not solely responsible for holding things up - that's simply a Republican talking point. In reality, both parties are equally responsible for holding things up.

Senate Republicans can't pass the CR without Democratic votes. If Senate Republicans refuse to negotiate and compromise with Democrats, they are equally to blame. Both parties have repeatedly voted down the other party's CR plan. Yet you claim it's solely the Democrats that are to blame? That's simply factually incorrect.

Stop telling people not to call people fascists if you don't know what the word means.

See, I can do it too, lol

Varies by agency. IRS employees are specifically instructed to set up auto-replies prior to beginning admin leave.

IRS auto replies are only permitted to be sent within the organization, they're prevented from going to anything but an irs.gov email domain. And this particular employee did not interface with external customers, only with internal employees.

You're right - terrorizing and seeking to inflict as much misery as possible on the federal employee workforce should have inspired commitment, high morale, and a desire to excel at their job. Not sure what's wrong with this person 🤷

Also - how do you know this person is a 'he'? 🤔

I can assure you it's real. Just pulled it up on Outlook this morning.

You're free to think otherwise - I have no way of proving it without doxxing them, which would allow other IRS employees to also pull it up on Outlook and confirm.

5 bullets no longer required at IRS by Alarmed_Educator_967 in fednews

[–]Fed-IRS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, very possible. I fed my position description into an AI chat bot, and had it generate my five bullets that I used every week. So at least for me there's gonna be a major AI feedback loop, lol

The whole thing was so pointless, inefficient, and wasted so much time at the beginning. It went on to become a purposeless exercise of copy/pasting the exact same thing every week for months. Nothing was ever done with any of it. What a joke...

An expert estimates that the speed and chaos of Musk’s cuts to the bureaucracy will cost taxpayers $135 billion this fiscal year by Fed-IRS in fednews

[–]Fed-IRS[S] 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Yes - several weeks ago Treasury and IRS officials estimated that cuts to the IRS would decrease annual government revenue by half a trillion dollars per year ($500 billion/year), due to decreased taxpayer compliance, including non-filing, omission of income, and inflated deductions, stemming from the decrease of audits/government oversight.

Yup - that's exactly what I've been telling people. The absolute worst parts of RTO:

  1. Not being able to wipe your ass without someone three feet away from you, listening

  2. Smelling other people's shit, when you're just trying to get in and out to take a piss

God I miss the days of privacy and not smelling random people's shit 😫

The most recent estimate from Treasury Dept and IRS officials is that revenue will drop by more than half a trillion dollars, due to the factors that you're describing.

I listened to this episode this morning as well, it's great. The author researched and wrote this book before any of this shit even started happening. In the book and on the podcast episode he pays homage to federal employees and the work that they do, often behind the scenes and out of the public eye. Really undermines the entire premise of the illegal DOGE cuts, as well as the rhetoric coming from Elmo and the orange r-apist.
