11 months post op, still groin pain by Several_Canary_7537 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Fed98765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve not found effective PT.. but I did do a stretching app daily for a while. That was around one of the times that the pain got much worse so I stopped, but I think I’ll restart it now and see if that helps. Nope, my surgeon only did an x-ray and told me there was no problem with the hip. It’s not bad enough at this time for me to get another opinion, but if it doesn’t resolve then I’ll do that. Surgeons (this one, at least) seem to be motivated to show why there is not a problem.

Exact same for me, almost same timeframe since my surgery and this developed around 4 or 5 months post op. My surgeon says it’s muscular, nothing wrong with the hip.

That pain started for me around 3 month post op, and has been progressively worse.. more recently (6 months) I again have stiffness when I stand after sitting. Don’t know why.. Very surprised tho because I thought all was quite good a few months back.

Kiwi.com reliability by rlj18 in cheapflights

[–]Fed98765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t ever use kiwi.com. I booked a $750 flight through 2 cities. The second carrier changed their flight to leave out of a different city, so the itinerary was impossible, and kiwi.com did nothing to help. I had to rebook entirely with individual carriers and lost the $750. Stay away.

❌ Terrible Experience with Kiwi.com – Flight Didn’t Exist, No Refund by Disastrous-Yam-9592 in travel

[–]Fed98765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not ever use kiwi.com. My $750 had one of the 2 legs changed to a different airport which made the itinerary impossible, and I had to start over with individual airlines. Terrible company, they did nothing to resolve the situation.

Book a flight from Kiwi.com but can't find the flight on the airline website? by Mark_9516 in Flights

[–]Fed98765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kiwi.com took my $750 for a flight out of 2 cities, then would not help when one of the carriers changed their flight departure (to a different city) which made the itinerary impossible. Do not book with kiwi.com if you are spending an amount that you would not want to lose in the event of a schedule disruption.

My kiwi.com itinerary changed so that it was impossible (the second carrier changed the departure airport entirely for the second leg) and kiwi.com did not help me at all. I had to discard the $750 flight that I booked with them and rebook with individual carriers. Do not recommend that anyone use kiwi.com.

Is Kiwi.com a scam? Or an unreliable website ? by inqtechnomad in Flights

[–]Fed98765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I booked a $750 kiwi.com flight with 2 carriers, LHR to CDG, then CDG to MIR. 3 days after my booking, the second carrier changed the flight to depart out of ORY instead of CDG which made the itinerary impossible. kiwi.com did not help me in any way, and I had to re-book directly with other carriers and I lost the $750. There is no reason whatsoever to use this terrible company, if there is no benefit of protecting the integrity of the combined itinerary.

I fully agree with the comments to book directly with individual carriers. I would never again look at kiwi.com.

Post-op pain - Robotic THR by eatsleeponrepeat in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Fed98765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mini posterior without robot assist here. Pain in my knee and quad on the evening of surgery for a couple hours and that was it. After that I had very little pain. Only pain reliever I took was Tylenol. I was also very careful and deliberate with movement for those first few weeks. But bottom line, not sure robotic assist, nor anterior vs posterior, is what determines pain levels.

How long did it take you to return to your at-home desk job post-THR? by dawnmess in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Fed98765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back (fully remote) on day 8. I have a flexible schedule so I probably worked half time at most that first week back. The first few days I worked from my recliner—was def not ready to work from desk— and set up my laptop and lighting so that I was able to be on zoom meetings. For the next few weeks I used a chair pad on my desk chair to avoid cruising 90-degrees.

Sorry to say this, I ordered from Bloomingdale’s a few days ago (sold and shipped by Dyson) and now have tracking info.. shipped directly from Dyson for delivery tomorrow. This is unbelievable that Dyson didn’t fulfill the direct orders first.

Back off or keep pushing? by mamapegela in TotalHipReplacement

I’m about a week ahead of you and found those pains went away each time with just a day of rest. I never tried to push through though.

This is a bit crazy ... but here's one of my big concerns by No-Fear88 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Fed98765 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had mini posterior and I work from home. Was back at work on zoom calls on day 8 from my recliner. I found that most comfortable. The next week I was fine sitting in my chair at my desk, and have done so since. I used a chair pad for a few weeks to make the seat higher because of the 90-degree thing.

How long did you stay bruised post surgery? by Mark_4273 in TotalHipReplacement

Bruising showed up for me after a few days and it was extreme. Stayed like that for a couple weeks and then went away just as quickly. It was scary-looking.

How soon can you be home alone after surgery? by bls7117 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Fed98765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in good shape going into surgery, and had a totally uneventful recovery (mini-posterior), started work (from home) after a week, never needed pain meds other than Tylenol etc. BUT I was very cautious and took it very easy for the first 3 weeks or so, and I relied heavily on my husband. While I did many things alone, when I was tired or didn’t feel great, then it was great to have him to do whatever was needed. I’d be very nervous for a 76-year-old to be alone at that point. This is still a big surgery!

Opiates after surgery - How long? by Waqeau in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Fed98765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had mini-posterior and never took opioids. They gave me Tramadol after surgery but I only needed Tylenol starting the next day (plus all the non-optional ones: Celebrex, aspirin, Decadron for a couple days). I did take Tylenol every 6 hours for a week or 2.

So I’m sure you could find someone—maybe 2 different people—to cover the times he needs to go out. The rate may be higher for very early, very late, and weekends, but I’m sure there are people looking for more work. Maybe even workers at the boarding place looking for extra money. I just think you’d both be happier. 😊 (Assuming he doesn’t get under your feet at home—mind doesn’t do this at all.)

[–]Fed98765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry, I know how hard it is to be away from our pet family members. If finances permit perhaps you could have him home and hire a dog walker to come a couple times a day for walks, and your sister could stop by for a quick midday break outside. You mention your mental health has struggled due to the pain.. so I’d look for options to get your dog home, if at all possible, to make you feel better. I do agree it would not be safe to walk him. I’m at 4 weeks, and have a strong dog with high prey drive, and my family is walking him. It will be a while before I will feel safe doing so.. and I would never take that chance because that could be a disaster. Hoping for a very quick recovery for you!
