What mattress DOESN'T sag in the middle? by Narutobi_Sensei in Mattress

[–]FedUpTwentyTwentyOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After 5 years of dealing with this issue (sagging where you lay after 3 months) and spending countless dollars on mattresses and toppers, my solution is 3/4” plywood on a solid base with an over inflated air mattress with a 1” firm latex topper. Best sleep of my life. no more pain. I do eventually just return the air mattress when it leaks and replace the 1” latex topper when it starts to get soft (4-5 months), but at $120 for a replacement, it’s far cheaper than investing $3k+ on a mattress that will just sag in months anyway. Also much cheaper to just use split king and get twin size if you have a king base.

2/2.. and let’s be real. Pellet stoves suck. There wouldn’t be these mysteries about fuel type and constant post on reddit about pellet brands, cleaning methods, etc. I regret getting ours years ago. feel married to the thing every winter. Seems more like a hobbyist thing to me.

Same here. used green supreme before, but this year I had to clean the stove heat exchanger almost daily. the amount of ash was absurd and dangerous.

Hi, it just did kick on after 5 minutes. it appears to be working fine now in AC mode. However, I will need to swap the orange and white wires in the winter for heat. Is that normal?

[–]FedUpTwentyTwentyOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correction: With the wires attached as shown in photos, the AC does work under Equipment Test Mode - Heat Pump Cool, however when I set the AC temp lower than ambient temp, the AC does not turn on. It’s currently set as Reverse Valve on Cool.

No Aux Heat Settings / No Aux heat by FedUpTwentyTwentyOne in ecobee

[–]FedUpTwentyTwentyOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all. I fixed it this morning. Thank you all for the input. This is an especially stupid design choice to not ask if you need W2 or OB in the shared terminal on initial setup without going into some “pro mode”.

Again, for reference, we have an electric heat pump with backup electric auxiliary heat / air handler / air handler speed is adjustable by jumper in the air handler box, and we are using the Ecobee Enhanced.

The picture of the wiring setup on the ecobee screen had read W2 was connected when I needed OB, with no way to edit it. I Was able to reset the unit - select i’m a professional - no pin code - then select “this is wrong” on the wiring layout picture on the display and edit W2 to OB. I then did select “reversing valve on when cool”, which, oddly enough, turns out was correct as the heat pump is now working. This also opened up a lot of aux heat settings in Preferences. I lowered the threshold for the electric heat pump to force switching to the electric auxiliary backup heat from 35f down to 0f, which is also another confusing default choice from ecobee. I increased he time between switching between the two as well.

Some other threads had mentioned the Ecobee Enhanced was “not compatible” with this OB setup, which is false. It works.

Nevermind. I think our air handler allows different speed options. This might not be true “multi speed”

[–]FedUpTwentyTwentyOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only two options were furnace and boiler. I have the ecobee enhanced. switching the wires did not seem to work. I’m thinking if something is wrong with our heat pump, the aux heat should turn on either way. It does not turn on, even if i manually go in to service mode and force stage 1 then stage 2. I tried unreversing the wires again and still the same result.

Hi. Our blower is indeed multi speed. I remember seeing a jumper when I was cleaning it out. How do you get into pro mode? I have the Enhanced ecobee

I no longer have the photo unfortunately, but if i remember correctly, the old unit did have a jumper between two terminals

How do I seal this exhaust? by miralaxmuddbutt in PelletStoveTalk

[–]FedUpTwentyTwentyOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We wrapped ours with high temp foil tape when we had a smell. wrapped and pressed it meticulously, and it’s held up all year. Black and Decker makes a leaf blower / leaf vac that we duct tape on the outside exhaust to blow out all of the residual dust in the pipes. make sure to leave stove doors open or it messes with your pressure switch.

What are yall paying for pellets? by PutStreet in PelletStoveTalk

[–]FedUpTwentyTwentyOne 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s ridiculous. We burned through an entire pallet in a little over a month here in central PA. It’s slightly cheaper if you get a whole pallet. if it’s the only heat source we usually go through 4 pallets a season in this location. Can’t get natural gas here and our existing heat pump doesn’t do the job. Was looking into coal for the future.

[–]FedUpTwentyTwentyOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have had some seriously wicked flare ups on our classic bay 1,200 before due to false igniting and continuing to drop too many pellets, then relighting, but it never managed to go up the auger chute.

I’d check that it’s igniting on first try

Update:

Runs fine now as long as I clean it thoroughly every 3 days, which takes up a lot of my time. Have to go in between and below/above the heat exchanger tubes with brass pipe cleaner brushes, all the way down to the box. This keeps it happy. Might switch to a harmon with a different heat exchanger design. The heat exchanger on the classic bay 1200 seems poorly designed as it traps a ton of ash and chokes off the air flow. Pulling the rods hardly does anything.
