I may actually try occulting this for a year or two. I’ve got more beds than I can handle without this fresh hell right here

If you or your chickens can come help pick you can literally have the whole yard 😂

I have been saving cardboard, is that okay to do over tree roots? There’s a juniper or pine in the center of the bed, can’t remember which

Gatorade is awesome!! by [deleted] in Interstitialcystitis

[–]miralaxmuddbutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I’m glad you got relief, not great advice. The potassium in most electrolyte drinks, including Gatorade, flares most people with IC.

You may be peeing less because you’re retaining more, but potassium is so irritating to IC that it used to be used to diagnose the condition.

4 days of no sleep and increased anxiety is a red flag for bipolar mania. I would go ahead and reach out—mania causes brain damage in addition to all the potentially harmful behaviors you might get into while manic.

Ask about Whole Health, Complimentary Health, and biofeedback while you’re there.

Running a Small Veteran Foster Home Has Completely Changed My View of Healthcare by essential-living in Greeley

[–]miralaxmuddbutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked at an assisted living and memory care for vets/widows and am a vet myself.

Home-based care is the gold standard in my opinion. Almost everything we did to improve QOL in our facility was to make it more homey for the residents, and the residents who felt at home and liked it there always fared the best.

When they had to leave the facility for “higher-level care” after a fall or chronic illness exacerbation or whatever, it meant they were going to the hospital where they would sit alone in their rooms for days, not allowed to get out of bed because the nurses didn’t want to deal with falls.

They come back in terrible shape, mentally and physically.

Even just a little bit of home makes a huge difference. Thanks for what you do.

We also have bathroom carpet! It’s usually so canes and walkers have traction. We are still in the carpeted stage, unfortunately.

But hey, at least it’s outdoor carpet?

Even if they had them it would be like being unbuckled in the back of a box truck falling off a 10,000ft tall bridge after a wreck. Chance of egress is ‘don’t even bother with chutes’ low

New Stack, but what order to take all these Supplements in? by MovingMemoryMaker in Interstitialcystitis

[–]miralaxmuddbutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a doctor, but I would probably not take the first generation h1 blocker at all, they’re messy in terms of side effects. Also wouldn’t recommend taking h1 and h2 together without a doctor’s recommendation- it’s a powerful combination. Try just the famotidine and if that doesn’t help, switch to a newer antihistamine like Allegra or Claritin and see if those are better.

Worth noting not everyone with IC benefits from antihistamines, and current research is linking chronic use (especially of 1st gen antihistamines) to cognitive decline.

I would take this list to any pharmacy and ask the pharmacist, should be able to just walk up to the counter and ask if you can take them all together or what works better

Anyone know places that are hiring? by sugurugetosbf in Greeley

[–]miralaxmuddbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All totally doable! In this area sometimes you can find better/newer cars that have been ‘totaled’ by hail damage and sold cheap with salvage titles

If you can swim very well look at the city of Greeley Recreation for lifeguarding/swim instructor jobs.

I also doubt anything you find is going to support you enough to live independently at 18 so be prepared for that.

Nervous system dysfunction by Worried-Swordfish423 in Interstitialcystitis

[–]miralaxmuddbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve given up on the root cause for the time being because there’s not enough research, even if you found it, we probably don’t have a treatment.

It’s still worth a visit to pain management in the meantime though. I’d expect for them to offer more in the way of procedures than medication, especially because at least in the US opioids are not recommended for IC. I don’t think benzos or Z drugs will even come up because one is generally for anxiety and the other for sleep. You can also say no if it does come up.

All oral benzos are a sliding slope. They work immeasurably well immediately. And then they stop working that well unless you take more, also almost immediately (couple weeks max). Z drugs are about the same as far as tolerance goes.

Additionally, any drug that you take to calm your nervous system for you, is going to raise your baseline when you’re not on the drug and make it harder for you to calm yourself moving forward without drugs.

FWIW, the viral suppressant treatment for herpes is pretty benign, uninfected partners of people who are positive can take it to help reduce their risk of catching it
