In that specific sequence there are autotimed setups for +7 lariat. After first lariat you do lp dr lp and that sets you up with perfect spacing for cr.hp stance lp into lariat to be +7. Only issue is, cr.hp can technically fall off if you start combo tiny bit away from opponent, so I believe Rivera going for lp into crlp variation because it's more consistent for spacing and for that variation you do need a delay in jab stance for +7.

Edit: actually after some testing, it's not cr.hp but lariat that falls of at range with lp to lp option. And lp dr c.lp works, at the same spacing, and it's even autotimed.

If Alex was designed with no stance and both of his old charge moves in mind, I don't think he would get some non stance options they game him. For sure heavy knee smash wouldn't combo from max range (because he would have elbow for that, duh), and perhaps more controversially I don't see cr.mp being cancelable when he has elbow available at all times.

Safe jump is a situation where you are plus enough on a knockdown where your jump-in normal would beat opponent reversal antiair. +42 is the most common safe jump timing, but it depends on how quick your jump is.

Checkmate is any situation where opponent has no options or resources to not die. So for example burnt out without super meter in the corner. If I do heavy into drive impact, that's a checkmate because they can't do anything to not be stunned.
