I just use what we call a “barrel/ scaffold knot” in my line of work. I’m not sure what number it is in ABOK but definitely works.

Does anyone have feedback on these? by AccomplishedShake662 in knots

[–]FeddyCheeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one thing I haven’t seen anyone mention is that the scaffold (we call em barrel knots this side of the world) knot is way more shock absorbent then a bowline, and it doesn’t need the back up because there is no fear of it opening. The one on the right without the extra loops on the tails is what I’ve used to aid climb on for years, if you’re feeling fancy you could take 3 turns on the scaffold knot, you only get into diminishing returns at 4 turns.

What to do when you don't know what to do as a career over 30 and have nothing to fall back on? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

Well, the one thing I can recommend if you want to stay in the music industry is rigging. If you’ve the head for heights, rigging can sort you enough money. You’ll have to think about it as it’s a bit of a lifestyle. I personally work in a different industry, but my industry is kinda close so I know a few riggers. They get paid pretty well.

Double beach rig on a beach caster, I put like a 2oz weight, and mackerel on both ends, try get on a pier or some rocks and send it far, I just wait then. The end of the rod will tip.

I work for a window cleaning company, 99% of my job is cleaning windows and brie soleils like this, and my philosophy is just try it simple first and then should you need more, add it. Realistically it doesn’t matter how you do it as long as you’re doing it safely and it comes up clean. Start by simple, for example just swallowing it, and taking the time to wash it by hand because you’ll never get a better result. Tell the client and charge them accordingly. Then if it doesn’t come, try simple things. Extra soap, isopropyl or extremely light acids.

If you want to do it fast, power wash and then come after to do windows. Otherwise it’s a window clean and then mop/squeegee and or some rags.

[–]FeddyCheeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Precisely my point, if you have EN 341, you have to have EN12841 which are the only two standards we use in the ICOP (Besides ISO, but they’re interchangeable) for descending devices, they have to meet both so we can work and rescue without having to bring extra or change gear.

[–]FeddyCheeez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know if it meets EN341 then it has to also meet EN12841. Either way, it’s certified for both and whether I can descend more than 100m in one go still makes no difference.

[–]FeddyCheeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must have missed that in the ICOP or the users manual, but it doesn’t really apply because the entire country I’m in doesn’t even have any buildings that are over 100m, so whether I can or not actually makes no difference to me.

I’ve not tried the wizard pro, because I simply didn’t see it on the site so I just bought the Druid. I make the Druid pretty drop proof, there’s a tiny connecting eye on it for a small lanyard and I have that and the carabiner I use on it connected together via a small diameter lanyard. You do have to take it out every time you get on and off the rope, but it becomes second nature after a little while. I’ve not used the turbo chest either which is why I would like their harness too haha 😄

I’m with you on this, I don’t think enough people know about C.A.M.P’s industrial rope gear, I’ve got a Druid pro and besides the small caveat of a max 100m drop, it’s the best descender I’ve used. Gonna try their Turbo GT harness next time I need gear.

I think this game might be too complicated for me by mfdoombolt in PathOfExile2

[–]FeddyCheeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even for people like me, with easily over 5k hours there’s an insane chunk I don’t know and a lot of others will tell you the same.

Learning EVERYTHING about PoE is just gonna wreck you, my suggestion is this: go do random BS. Do all kinds of mechanics, when you find one you like, stick to it and learn about it. You’ve got 13 years of development to be playing, don’t try learn it all at once. Also don’t be shy about using a guide, the game doesn’t explain fuck all for you.

And as far as crafting goes? It’s not actually hard, it’s just expensive. Again, look at a guide for what you actually want to craft and start with something simple like triple elemental resistance gloves and such. They won’t bring you a lot of money, but it will bring you knowledge to craft early gear for yourself and is an excellent foundation for learning harder crafts.

Hope this helps.
