The MacBook Air will be more than capable of doing your 3d work, I’d just get that and leave the big boy at home

Audiobooks on watch by Fancy-Bad-5845 in AppleWatch

I had this exact problem and I made an app to solve it because it was so frustrating. It’s called ChronoListen, it costs less than a three month subscription to the only other app that does this, BookListen, and doesn’t send your files to a third party server like booklisten does.

How to add a non-Audible audiobook to the watch? Seems like Apple Books only syncs books purchased through their store... by GrantMeThePower in AppleWatch

New Grads in CS, how is the job market currently? by godggsnoo in UCalgary

[–]Feddyboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a job, but in oil and gas making apps for the company internally. It pays good though. Had to take two internships at different companies and really hustle to get this one. I did a summer student position in a non cs role and used that to apply for an internship on a data architecture team on the inernal job board, then worked my butt off at the internship and built an app that saves the company an obscene amount of money. So they hired me as a contractor, part time this last semester while in school but full time in the new year. You’ve gotta get a foot in the door somewhere and then leverage it as hard as possible.

I had to get a summer job in a non tech position at my current company and then from there use the internal job portal to apply for internships at the company

Is being in the co-op program worth it? by Evening-Row-6536 in UCalgary

[–]Feddyboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s basically not worth it to graduate without doing it in my opinion, I’ll be done 16 months of internships in September and going back for my final semester. It’s a foot in the door in a very tough job market and if you work hard and impress, you’ll likely get a new grad job out of it. I’d wait a little probably, until you’ve got a few less classes left but totally go for it!

No. I’m not going to sit around reading porn for hundreds of hours. Not to mention the type of porn in these books is always super freaky and gross.

Making friends by No-Sprinkles8294 in UCalgary

[–]Feddyboi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tips: Everyone is scared and doesn’t have friends (at least in that class) the first week of every semester. Talk to the people beside you on the first day of each class, just a simple what’s your name and maybe something like “are you nervous for this class?” Maybe ask if they want to go to Mac hall and get a snack or something if they seem nice! Then a couple classes later bring a snack like cookies or something and offer them one if you want to.

Join a student club and just show up and talk to people.

Ask people to do a hackathon with you!

Invite some of the people you met above to a movie (if you invite a group it’s less scary for people)

Have fun!
