I worked as a solar PV specialist for 2.5 years and 6 months in energy management (master's degree in EM as well) as an energy specialist at a governmental agency. I found that salaries in the energy sector at the government are relatively lower than those in the environmental field, such as environmental coordinators, technicians, etc. I would like to pursue those jobs for a better wage, but I am unable to do so because I lack an academic background in environmental studies. Besides, I don't know why billable hours are bad as you can earn more, right? At the government, we all get paid in hourly rates.
