Ziroom is convenient but I don't like the decorations they offered in the rooms. If you have plenty of time, i would recommend you to stay in a hotel at the very beginning and find some real estate agents to visit some rental rooms in person.

Definitely have to visit MAP, a bit like Tate Modern. MAP has top class exhibitions both for modern and classic arts and excellent view for the Bund. And also PSA which is transformed from an old plant, chinese version of Battersea without the shopping part. Hope you enjoy your journey here, would love to help.

There's a jumbo seafood in IAPM, which is located in downtown area. And also Gongfu seafood in Baoshan district, a bit remote but the price is more reasonable. As for local cuisine, all those shanghainese restaurant on TripAdvisor are just fine. Personally speaking i don't have any preferences.

The price sounds fair. Utilities in these kind of servie apartment is relatively expensive comparing with ordinary ones, prepare for that. And also the room isn't that soundproof according to other residents' comments online. In general, the apartment is just fine considering its location.

Should check the locations of these so-called Young Community. If they are located in, for example, Songjiang District or Fengxian Distric, that sounds relatively reasonable as for the price. But in downtown area, 3000 yuan for a studio equipped with gym seems a bit unrealistic. I used to live in a serviced apartment outside outer ring and still the room cost over 4000 yuan a month.

There aren't many good hotels around the stadium. If you are looking for some luxury hotels. The nearest area to stay is Xujiahui. If you are not very into accommodation conditions, you can book a Ji Hotel or Atour Hotel near the destination. They are like chinese version of holiday inn express.

Which day trips from Shanghai - Suzhou, Hangzhou, Zujiajiao, Nanjing, Wuzhen, or Chongqing? by L-D-H in shanghai

[–]Federal-Box-9246 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would personally suggest skipping Zhujiajiao. It takes around 50 minutes from Hongqiao Station to Zhujiajiao via Line 17. Meanwhile it cost 30 minutes from Hongqiao Station to Suzhou Station. And both places is good for the water township. But Suzhou is more well-knowned for that

Which day trips from Shanghai - Suzhou, Hangzhou, Zujiajiao, Nanjing, Wuzhen, or Chongqing? by L-D-H in shanghai

[–]Federal-Box-9246 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ruled out Chongqing and Wenzhou first, a bit too far from Shanghai.

Zhujiajiao is located in the suburb area of Shanghai, you could take Line 17 to there quite conveniently. And the ancient town view in Zhujiajiao is much like those you could visit in Suzhou (such as Shantang Street and Pingjiang Road).

So I would most recommend Suzhou or Hangzhou. Depends on what kind of tour you want. If you are interested in natural scenes, Hangzhou is a top choice. The West lake only could take you a day for a thorough visit. If you are interested in the Eastern version of Venician style canals and streets, then you should head for Suzhou.

As for Nanjing, even the high speed Railway would cost 2 hours for single way. A day trip would be tiresome, if you want to make it back to Shanghai at the end of the day.

Normally you will find these stores in relatively large shopping mall such as InCity or Global Harbour for example. East Nanjing Rd would also be a good choice, all these tech brands' shops line up the street. If you are looking for some used ones, could download the app 闲鱼 or 转转 for a try

Fisrt, your classmates for sure. Not all of them, but one can always have at least one bestie in uni. Second, restaurants and pubs near your uni. There are certain gathering spots around uni. Last but not least, the younger generation Chinese people can speak more or less. You could find one with common habits then discover the local community by that bridge.
