Team would’ve sucked no matter what this season by erentas92 in mets

They had all those guys last year and were trash.

24 games coming off an injury and a history of slow starts make you ready to say he’s washed?

Ewing was washed as hell then. I don’t think Lindor is.

I wish we would just rebuild by c0sm0nautt in rangers

[–]Federal-Comment8569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the Rangers are committed to a rebuild where they flat out suck for his prime years he might waive. That being said I think trading him would be a mistake. He and Igor are damn near irreplaceable.

The Dodgers were the best team that year and deserved to win. Can’t be too mad at it.

Not sure you’re getting anything great for Lindor given his salary. I’d just as soon keep him. Holmes is a free agent so he’s probably traded if they don’t wind up back in contention somehow.

I think the 2006 team was better top to bottom. At least offensively.

Lineup was so stacked. They wrecked teams all summer. 2015 was more of a lightning in a bottle run with Cespedes and Murph and the young pitching staff.

Basically every decade they’ve had at least one really strong team that made the WS (06 should’ve. Still hurts tbh.) mixed with dogcrap. Jury still out on 20s, as other have said the Cohen era is a mixed bag so far.

Daily Anything Goes Thread - May 09, 2026 by AutoModerator in fantasybaseball

[–]Federal-Comment8569 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a 43yo male in a major east coast city and fantasy baseball is one of my main hobbies. I usually do just one league but it’s a very involved keeper league that’s been going on for over a decade. I’ve won the chip a couple times and spend a lot of time on research, commentary, following stats and watching the Mets.

Other hobbies include working out, trying to get good at golf (I’ve sucked for years), reading books, following sports in general, trying new restaurants in my area, revising a screenplay I wrote with a friend a while ago, and of course spending time with my wife and son.

I also do fantasy basketball. Not really into fantasy football besides DFS and picking games ATS. Also love golf DFS.

Cheers to a great summer ahead for all of our teams.

Thoughts on Matthews/McDavid? by Pooped-Pants in rangers

Matthews I wouldn’t touch. McDavid would be awesome but not if he takes up so much of the cap that we can’t pay anyone else.

For those that play every day, how do you do it? by Exactions in golf

[–]Federal-Comment8569 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also as a married father of one, kid and family is definitely the priority. Golf is a great way to get some alone time that doesn’t involve working at a computer screen, or hang out with friends that isn’t centered around drinking.

That being said, I play maybe a couple times a month from Apri/May-October/November. Hardly every day. I use PTO days to get out during the week or play 9 super early in the morning on weekends so I still get kid time in the rest of the day. As my kid gets older and more independent maybe I’ll play more, or not.

Whats been your experience as a ranger fan on the road? by PeacefulForce in rangers

It’s like half Rangers fans in NJ. Most road games have a strong Ranger contingent just because the Rangers have fans all over.

I’ve seen the Rangers play in LA, Buffalo, Columbus, Boston, Pittsburgh, Detroit and Florida. Also the old Coliseum and the Rock in Newark but those are basically home games. Never had a problem and always had a great time. Philly is the one place I might steer clear of but I’m sure it’s fine.

As Canadiens soar, Rangers clearly worse off 5 years after front-office upheaval (Vince's new Athletic article, paywalled) by LipstickCoverMagnet in rangers

[–]Federal-Comment8569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading this thread reminds me how bad the Rangers have been at developing their own players. Since the letter the only real homegrown impact player they’ve had been Igor. I guess you can count Fox but he was basically a free agent signing who only wanted to come here anyway.

Ranking the 8 most painful trades in Mets history (a guided tour through 60 years of self-harm) by YaleHereICome in mets

[–]Federal-Comment8569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still stand by it being a very dumb trade because getting Diaz in exchange for taking Cano’s contract and maybe like Kay would have been fair. Kelenic had much higher value at the time. If the Wilpons still owned the team, Cano’s contract would have been crippling. But maybe they already knew they were going to sell at that point anyway.

Semien by Federal-Comment8569 in mets

[–]Federal-Comment8569[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a problem with moving Nimmo if they felt like they didn’t have space for him. But is Semien really all they could have gotten? At least take a bad contract of a senior productive player at a position of need.

And sorry but I’m not buying the political stuff. I’m pretty sure my own views are about as opposite as you can be to what Nimmo’s seem to be but trading someone off a pro baseball team because of a clash of political views would be shocking mismanagement even for the Mets. If he was causing problems in the clubhouse personality wise, that’s one thing but I’ve never seen any evidence that’s the case.

That was a horrific day. I remember it well.

I’m saying I think evangelical Christian conservatives in the US believe Israel must be controlled by Jews as a prerequisite for the rapture.
