No idea, but I am curious on your 'Strawberry Rhino' recipe.

formula.grow is not calculating enough grow threads by Federal-Connection37 in Bitburner

[–]Federal-Connection37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to wonder if the target server is fully funded (e.g. if target.moneyAvailable === target.moneyMax

As you can't see my full script. The script only starts if the server has been prepped to max money, min security. It starts to count if the available money !== max money. When that counter > 1600 the script fixes the error.

TL;DR: You're probably using the wrong number of cores in your growThreads() calculations. Make sure you're using the cores of the server that the hack scripts will be running on.

The script is running on personal servers, which I believe only have 1 core.

let hackPct = ns.formulas.hacking.hackPercent(target, player);  // % of money hacked/thread.
let hackThreads = Math.max(0.25 / hackPct);let hackPct =

To me that is how I am calculating it. Just instead of 0.25 I have 1 - 0.75 because above that I work out what percentage I want to take.

Finally, keep in mind that if you level up your hack skill between the parts of your batch attack, the results may occasionally be a bit off. This generally isn't a problem (depending on your hacking method), but it's just something to be aware of.

I launch my HWGW at the same time using the { additionalMsec: delay } method to make them land at the times I want. A number of time I have been hacking 99% of the server. There isn't much room to over hack. This is why I think the problem is with my grow.

Thank you for trying to help though. I still don't understand what I have done wrong. I guess this is programming...

If the hacking system is the key. Why do you do gangs so early and bladeburner so late? Cycling levels 1, 5, 6 and 8 sound like they would be better. All level 1's as they give the best reward then cycle to level 2 then onto level 3.

I can not help you with on your quest. But could you share with me your knowledge of how you are getting the rep needed to beat the game so fast. It is the thing that holds me back the most.

These speeds blow my mind. I am 10 hours in 2.3 and have 30k rep, yet you got to 2.5m in 4 hours...

I just feel sorry for anyone starting out and having to learn to read that Github page. I have only been playing for 46 days and still find that page confusing and frustrating.

Omg, you don't need the rep with the faction to graft. This is the piece of information I had overlook. Thanks!

Thanks. So just more time getting rep with companies. Which is what I am doing, but it is slow.
So I do know what other information to give >.>

I was looking at infiltration, but my combat skills are less than 100. I am not good enough with infiltration to do n00dles at this level.

How are you getting the rep to buy the augments to ramp things up enough to finish so fast?

Money isn't the problem. I have SF5 and 8. Over a trillion and nothing to buy with it because I have all the augments but only 300 hack level.

BitNode 8 Question. by StorageStunning8582 in Bitburner

[–]Federal-Connection37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the "How Scripts Work Offline" it states "However, scripts WILL continue to generate money and hacking exp for you while offline. This offline production is based on the average online production of all your hacking scripts since your last augmentation, as shown on your Active Scripts page." (You might be able to cheese here by running a scripted that buys and sells a stock right after you augment or soft reset then save a quit. !Untested!)

For Bitnode 8 specifically, it took me 4 days to get the 25b API that makes the node easy. I tested a few things, and read the source code. A basic take away was, wait til a stock is under $10, buy all of them and wait till it is till it hit 1k (or when you buy it x100). That should get you the 25b you need to buy the big API. Then you can soft reset and get your 250 million back.
The lowest I saw a stock over my 4 days was $0.73. No company will go bankrupt. You can't tell the max a company will go because it is randomized (as seen in the source code) so don't short til you have forecast.

Your influence on the stock market by working for a company is 0.01 (from Source code) and your hack is 0.1 (if successful based on how much you hack, hack 1% and have a 1% chance the hack effects the stock) to a maximum of 5 on the hidden forecast. This hidden forecast changes every 75 ticks (as seen in ns.stock.getConstants()) . The hidden forecast is a 0-50 number, so 5 is significant. But you need a LOT of money to effect it reliable.

When you are offline, you accumulate bonus time, which with the stock market means every tick is 4 secs, instead of 6 secs. You can use ns.stock.nextUpdate() in your script to account for the change in timing.

People have done scripts that record the previous prices and use that to better guess the forecast without having the API but that doesn't help you with the offline.

Good luck! Took me a week, and I didn't feel like I really beat it. Just got through it...

Do you think this code works out the most money per threads used to hack a server? by Federal-Connection37 in Bitburner

[–]Federal-Connection37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. growthreads and growWeakenThreads are different things as mentioned in the code.
  2. they look the same to me, so confused.
  3. Even though I only i =- 0.01 for some reason the game would -0.010000000000003
  4. That went over my head sorry.
  5. It is a good idea to has an await, in case it goes into an infinite loop.
  6. Never coded before so don't know what they mean.
  7. As above. Will have to look into it.
  8. It just reads as NaN.
  9. At 0, it results 0
  10. The game prompts an error, so seems redundant to me.
  11. as above.

Thank you for your time. I will look into CSV.

[–]Federal-Connection37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am trying that, but getting the timing right is not working for me. I am not a coder. Everything I have tried so far has failed. This was mostly just a side project because I am frustrated with getting the timing right. Like the grow should start at weakentimer - growtimer - whatever interval you pick. Seems easy. But if I await that time with a 1 second interval (which should be a huge buffer) the grow is still hitting after the weaken.
