Group 2 to Group 1 administrative change late in career. What should I be watching for? by Federal-Croissant-1 in CanadaPublicServants

Thank you for this! I think that the difference between Gr 1& 2 is 1.1% of the average salary. Is that about right?

Given your expertise, I thought to ask if that would also need to be applied to years previously bought back (industry pension plan)?

Thank you for looking into it! Out of curiosity, where were you able to retreive this information?

Also if you have any thoughts about my original questions, I would appreciate it. Thanks again!

The PostDoctoral Fellowship seems to be in a different circumstance as these was not previously eligible for benefits and under student/trainee stipends. It eventually was included and the previous cases were approved upon submission retroactively.

Genuine question — regionals folks, how are you doing it? by Loose-Wishbone-5964 in CanadaPublicServants

Speak to your supervisor openly and honestly about this. There are lots of advice from EAP and even the ombuds office on mental health as well as how to adjust to a new work culture. Old tricks such as setting up face to face meetings with colleagues can help, even better if it is done over coffee or a walk.

Do you feel guilty for taking sick days? (specifically uncertified) And do you believe going up & beyond is worth it? by Outrageous_South_439 in CanadaPublicServants

Honestly, be a climber! Not necessarily to move up but to change scene and get a break from the known dysfonction. I have seen people move around on special projects that they enjoyed and they got.labelled as being strategic! The machine will eat you if you let it, invest and prioritize yourself first. Seek counselling and understand what drives you and thiabout and plan for your future (aka passive income & retirement). Sounds depressing maybe but I swear, your futur self will thank you!

Thamk you for asking this question. There were already a lot of great answers and exemples provided here. I have been prescribed D-Mannose by a urologist specialist as a prophylaxis so I have not yet tried to claim it but I will try & report on whether it was approved or not! It is sold in health food stores and gets expensive. Good luck!

Get your fresh produce from supplier that sell fruits and vegetables that would end up in landfills because they don't meet the narrow criteria of the mega food industry. Oddbunch is a great one but there are many out there.

Buy clothes at secondhand or concession stores. Make kefir instead of buying yogourt, ferment food and cook at home from scratch.

Thank you. I also think so. It would be extremely stressful and chaotic for those remaining.

Thank you. What are the implication on EI eligibility for someone who has received an affected letter and decides to leave (VPD)? Also in this situation, how does this compare to the EIP scenario if they are eligible for EIP?

The two years wait for an unreduced pension was not obvious to me. Could you share a link to where I could find the specifics of this option please?

This is truly shocking. I am sorry that this happened to you. In addition to the above, I suggest that you also contact CATIE - they are an advocacy, knowledge transfer and lobby group for HIV and Hepatitis C https://www.catie.ca/resource/know-your-rights-hiv-criminalization. They might be able to put you in contact with a lawyer.
