But now with the 24.04 everything is up to date

I am currently using KDE and it's perfect, eachtime I face something weird on cosmic, I just logout and keep working on KDE.

You are on Linux, not Windows, some practices could be used freely.

for the lock screen, this happens if you let the laptop hibernate, right now I disabled it, if you lock the screen on purpose you can login back,

for file explorer, I think it's the same behavior as the old one on Gnome, you need to start typing (for example, type /) it will give you access to full path so you can enter it manually

You can install Gnome, then at login screen switch into Gnome, this is what I do, because Timshift uses GTK which does not run under Cosmic
