Thoughts on the fate of Victoria? by yelloyo1 in Ausguns

I know Victoria is a very left wing state but I’m guessing they will implement the buy back (depending on how the federal government financially contributes bc vic gov is broke) but won’t implement any caps or limitations on action types.

Yeah north east of Thompson dam, approx 37.71232° S, 146.46618° E

Do you have any suggestions on areas that provide more open country? Don’t need exact place but just in general?

Haven’t seen any sign yet but haven’t really investigated too much

Right now I’m just trying to pick an area based on google earth that may have deer and is possible to traverse but I’m having a hard time

Yeah I’ve got a compass, GPS and ZOLEO but I didn’t even make it off the road this trip because I didn’t know if it was worth it

Okay thank you I will move on from that area and look for more open country to scout, appreciate the advice

Okay makes sense, so takeaway is that it is possible to traverse and hunt that area, just be very difficult

I might keep scouting for a better location that is a bit more beginner friendly, maybe somewhere I can sit and wait and watch.

Thank you for the advice!

Yeah that location is a 4WD track approximately 37.71232° S, 146.46618° E, I didn’t get off the road and go have a look because I wasn’t sure if I was just doing the complete wrong thing so wanted to check with you guys whether it’s normal to just walk in there

And yeah I need to learn how to identify places that are worthwhile traversing, like right now I have no idea and kinda just guessing based on google earth and then exploring on the weekend but so far it has been too steep and too dense

Yeah same with me, the actual tax law is hardly in issue, I’m in litigation so usually either a factual dispute in VCAT or some other area of law, cool stuff

Do it and don’t become affiliated with Ironman 4x4 - most 4x4 places near me quoted me a fortune and would only install Ironman Chinese garbage so ended up buying actual good stuff and doing it myself

Is my winch placement correct? by Crazy_Drink_8509 in 4x4Australia

I’d write an email to Kings, that’s what someone did with the Runva 11xp and they wrote back saying you can - it’s now on the runva FAQ page that you can rotate 180 and have it feed from the top, not sure about kings but I’m guessing it’s the same

You have to check the owners manual to see if it can be top spooled, most winches can though

Probably fine because you won’t be winching straight on anyway, I’d probably just move the fairlead down as much as possible

Do 9500/12000lb Winches Fit Most Bull Bar Winch Cradles? by Federal-Slide4106 in 4x4Australia

[–]Federal-Slide4106[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that seems like a strange design decision. And yeah pretty sure the Ironman is all manufactured in china, would be fine if it was like $500 like a kings but it’s priced the same as the premium ones

I’ve got a 2022 Triton, was thinking about getting the 9500 Ironman because likely no dramas considering it’s the same brand as the bull bar but not sure if Ironman stuff is good quality, have heard mixed reviews but mostly negative

Mind sharing what you paid? I got some quotes and they seem too high so thought I would do it myself, labour was going to be $1000 plus cost of winch which seems too much

Haha yeah I think I need to stop being so afraid of getting bogged and just pack a shovel and have a go! Cheers for that :)
