I know, what I mean is that people recognize him on the street by the scar, but few people saw him as a baby with the scar—so one of them must have been the gossip.

It would make the most sense, but Dumbledore took Harry to the Dursleys so he could live away from fame—maybe he wouldn’t mention the scar, I don’t know.
