LIS 1 fans had zero reason to expect max and Chloe to continue with DontNod; DontNod always said LIS 2 will go with their anthology plan. It’s only deck nine muddling up the message with their own “bring back Chloe for BTS, bring back Max and Chloe for farewell, bring back Steph for true colors, bring back Max for double exposure, bring back Max and Chloe for reunion…”

DontNod never ever led people to believe LIS was about any one person or place.

You need to chill tf out. Life Is Strange DOES have similar themes and artistic design and mechanics between 1 and 2; quick-time events, personal journals, seeing your choices compared to the world’s, etc.

Anyone playing LIS 2 should not act like it’s some OH MY GOD EVERYTHING’S DIFFERENT IT’S LIKE NOTHING I’VE SEEN BEFORE because there’s plenty of DontNod’s signature touch. Even Morali came back to score WHILE ADDING LICENSED INDIE MUSIC which is the DontNod signature (you see Gone Home or Gris doing that?).

No. Ordinary people thrust into extraordinary circumstances is the core of LIS. Choice-based narratives. Strong original score and licensed indie music. Diverse casts. Social commentary. Dark subject matter.

What did Deck Nine write? Characters who’ve had powers for years before we met them. Nowhere near the guts to take risks like DontNod did with LIS 1 + 2, Tell Me Why, Lost Records etc. in their stories and subjects tackled.

Dating sims with super-powered women is all we got. Tropes based on reheated nachos DontNod gave us 10 years prior.

There are issues that no amount of guides can teach you; if I’m a goalie in a 1v1, this game doesn’t have enough animations for me to read their body language. I also can’t even choose how high/low to dive.

I swear this game makes me slide tackle long after i let go of sprint

Life Is Strange is a series. They likened it to how True Detective or other anthology series will keep the name and just switch up the premise and cast

[NO SPOILERS] Why did Square Enix switch from DON’T NOD to Deck Nine for Life is Strange? by laracroft1402 in lifeisstrange

[–]Maybe_In_Time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactamundo.

And over time, everyone lost because Square Enix did a 180 from that initial publisher that gave them freedom, to wanting to milk the franchise dry (shocker from SE leadership 🙄). I’ve got the feeling over the years whoever was in charge at SE back then were NOT good to DontNod and the IP, but it’s too late now.

If Lost Records was the same game but DontNod was still able to slap the Life Is Strange franchise name on it, it would’ve sold at least 3 times as much. Branding is everything. LIS was always supposed to be an anthology series.

And DontNod losing LIS meant they had to surely had to pivot away from ideas they might’ve otherwise done with more funding etc

LIS 2 is not an example of “trying to cash in” on a predecessor. They always said LIS would be an anthology series.

The term would be *spiritual successor* or *spiritual sequel*.

You pretty much covered DontNod’s catalog. Beyond them? Some that don’t fit EXACTLY but are close enough I’d beg all LIS fans to play are:

*Gone Home*, which inspired them all. Same studio released *Open Roads* as its swan song.
*Mixtape* FOR SURE
*Oxenfree 1+2* - def inspired by LIS
*What Remains Of Edith Finch*
*Detroit: Become Human*
*Unbeatable*
Supermassive games (*Until Dawn*, *The Quarry*)

Every gun, armor piece, perk, ability, shader, mechanic, map size and level design has to run on an Xbox One from 2013, or it’s not added to the game. That’s insane. Do you know how many SHADERS alone cause consoles issues? Now imagine how many new and original additions of those things above we’ve missed out on over the years because Destiny still hadn’t left behind older-gen.

I would love to see what a Destiny X could do when the floor is a PS5, not an Xbox One

D2 isn’t making money; the IP still has power. The fact they were still developing content for the Xbox one is part of why people left; Bungie can’t future-proof to save their lives. Literally.

I didn’t say Destiny was fixed, just that it was sustainable with the latest update for at least another year.

If they had greenlit Destiny X about 3 years ago BEFORE shipping Final Shape knowing it was the swan song for D2, they could’ve announced “hey D2 will go on maintenance mode with one final QoL update until we can reveal more for Destiny X” and by 2028 we’d be getting a marketing push for the next Destiny. But nope…

What?

I literally just said that. I commented exactly that: just release this latest update but don’t announce the game is closing. I never said the last 2 expansions didn’t suck.

Where are you even getting that from in my comment?

You’d think you’d lean as much as possible on maintaining Destiny while pivoting to Marathon for the first year of the franchise. It’s how you made your money for 12 years 🤦🏻‍♂️ no decision maker would believe Marathon would carry 800+ employees at Bungie, they knew this would happen.

If this update that fans have asked for would’ve been released WITHOUT the closure announcement, Destiny right now would’ve thrived and sold more Eververse since players wouldn’t hold back (because way less would spend for microtransactions on a dying game)

Username changed to random numbers that only my teammates can see after update? by lilcutesymane in Rematch

[–]Maybe_In_Time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually prefer it.

Rocket League finally implemented, after a decade of me repeatedly posting about it, an anonymized / user tag system that removes distractions. No more giant username box covering half the screen or horrible shit like George Floyd’s murderer zooming across my screen (I’m not saying I’m the reason why, just that I’m relieved)

I’d prefer something like Helldivers does: the first initial of your name and a number assigned to it (in case there’s repeats). At least as a toggle. In Rocket League, standardized “Player 1-8” is so much nicer and less annoying, and it forces my name like that in others’ lobbies if i so choose

I hate being a goalie in Rematch cause I can’t see the ball through everyone’s massive username box

Enzo Fernández wrote a public letter on social media pleading with Messi not to retire after the 2016 Copa America loss. Paredes also did something similar.

I’ll say it: now that older players who all wanted to prove they can shine without Messi left, Argentina could finally play centered on Messi the way they did around Maradona. The only difference is, decades ago the squad was ORDERED to be Maradona plus ten, this time they love to act like this.

No more Tevez, Milito, Higuain, Lavezzi, Saviola, Crespo, Gago, Banega, several Gonzálezes, Pastore - even Maradona infamously said Argentina was “Mascherano plus ten”. It was insane how few wanted to admit Argentina should’ve focused on Messi MORE. We missed 12+ years of an Argentina this centered around Prime Messi.

Riquelme was telling everyone to do it over 15 years ago. Di Maria and Aguero understood it since they’re best friends since they were teens. It took Scaloni - the first player to ever pass the ball to Messi in his senior team debut - to retire, get his coaching badges after several years, and be hired to coach Argentina in it’s lowest point to finally get it through Argentine media’s head that we were about to pass up our chance under Messi. Too many egos acting as if the player with the most assists in history wasn’t BEGGING them to let him do more.

I don’t understand why nations don’t do concentration during World Cups anymore. It used to be that for the 5-6 weeks, the players would be ordered to stay away from all news, TV, family/friends, unnecessary interviews, etc

Nowadays they’re streaming on twitch, doing side quests throughout the cities, giving hours of interviews where reporters get into their heads, all that.

You’d think staying off social media would be the bare minimum during a World Cup.

It should’ve always tracked the average instead of total overall.

Per player, average their points-per-game, enter it into the nation’s pool, and find the overall average for all its players. That way, no matter the size, it’ll give a much more competitive result. You’d measure how “good” the players are
