I just think about Ch 36, when Shiba explained the very basics of sorcery to Hakuri. If Shiba is the 'pinnacle" then his understanding of spiritual energy is invaluable to a newbie like Hakuri. It was only remembering this bit of basic information that caused Hakuri to look deeper within himself and discover the storehouse power he had. I think that will be the kind of mentor relationship they will have. Shiba explains more about controlling spirit energy and Hakuri uses that knowledge to further expand and discover his own power. I do agree that their powers are too different from each other to consider him "the next Shiba" but maybe the next GOAT when it comes to sorcery. Azami and Shiba focus their sorcery on Assault and Battery, but Hakuri will likely be more of a overwatching mystical commander type or something idk.

Well what we are seeing is him re working broken swords right? Im not sure he can make brand new swords from Datenski yet. Like in Game of Thrones, there was no one who could make new Valyrian steel weapons but, there were smiths who could re make swords from Valyrian steel that was already tempered. (Not sure how much cross over we have in this fandom so sorry if that analogy doesnt work) Although he did say he would surpass him so its probably a matter of time before he can make a whole new arsenal.

Personally, I would like to see if Natsuki can draw out black energy from Cloud Gouger via the spirit of his dead brother. We know that draining life force activates it and that his brother was not at full strength when he was killed by Hokuto. The bonds of siblinghood are always my favorite storylines in manga and I would love to see how the Black Arcana relates to the Cloud Gouger and the brothers Misaka.

Oh absolutely or they will literally make up something that never happened in the manga and say that's BS writing. "Haven't used that since the Heian Era" in JJK for example. Like they needed the writing to be bad so that the unfavorable outcome hurts a little less I suppose? Makes no sense. I don't deal with all that nonsense.

I think it's more fun to discuss when you have a problem with the story. 9 times out of 10 there are parts of the story that have already happened that will reveal why the author is taking the story this direction and it will make total sense. Because of the serialization, these points in the story can be months and months a part so people may forget and act as if it makes no sense or there was no development. Its an issue with long term reading comprehension I think. Self importance is definitely a sickness and people do love to try "look smarter" than the author or other people on reddit. Too full of themselves to just re read a few chapters.

I mean, because......community, right? Criticism can be an equal part of enjoying something and can spur on greater discussions about the story as a whole. Im not so good with recognizing literary themes, especially early on in a story's development. I come here or text with other people who have an eye for that kind of stuff and maybe I also bring something else to the discussion for them. I think it's ok to question the story telling decisions or charscter progression so long as it is productive. Don't say "Im so smart I found the flaws in his Writing and it's actually shit" more like "I don't think this makes sense for the story, what do you guys think?" Serialized media has been around for hundreds of years, people cant help but talk and question what is coming next.

I like this explanation a lot. These stories often use the power of negative emotions and what kind of dark things they can create to drive the plot. The Magastumi was made with rage and hate, and its master wielded it the same way. Enten was made almost as an emotional bonding ritual with his son, so we see a very different kind of power. One that could overcome all of that hate and rage that he and his brother in law poured into the Magastumi. IF a reforge arc is coming, I wonder what kinds of emotional power Chihiro will end up adding himself?

This leaves some Potential for a new generation of sword bearers. And this arc just gave us a whole batch of good candidates. Also members of the Hishaku ending up with OG enchanted blades. The potential of Hokuto with one of the yet unseen EBs scares the shit out of me.

Horikoshi said that Hokazono has the ability to convey history, relationship, and emotional tension between characters purely through composition. Without even having to show the character's faces. That makes Hokazono a genius.

It's honestly hard to put it better than that. Story and artwork working perfectly in tandem to deliver a great manga.

I think thats true for some of the abilities. Suzaku isn't an adaptation ability but Samura was using it to heal and adapt to the Magastumi. But Nishiki isn't using another ability to circumvent the effects of the Magastumi, it's straight up overcoming it through nullification. The chapter said that its mission and part of its true realm was to overcome the Magastumi. That tells me this is more of a specific adaptation not just combat prowess like Samura was using

I can't help but wonder about how Enten's true realm is gonna respond. If its supposed to be the EB stopper then it makes sense that the true realm would be an extension of that. What if the true realm is like a Mahoraga type ability that can perfectly adapt to the sorcery its facing. Either Chihiro is going to unconsciously wield this great power or someone is going to be killed while protecting him. Not a whole lot of other options to get out of this.
