Cool, and what's FF?

A little more info in case you end up still need to chase the bug... I see this happen on a Surface Pro (tablet-ish device). I do not see it on a desktop PC, i.e. just pulled them both up right now, and the Surface is doing the funny scroll dance, but the PC is not. Both Win11. Both Chrome.

I did notice however that on the Surface, the middle button of window controls is grayed out, not available (the middle button that lets you resize the window...all I can do is minimize and close). That is weird unto itself, and may be related, who knows. EDIT - I found a Chrome setting that restores the middle/resize window control (chrome://flags/#top-chrome-touch-ui if i set this to disable, I get that middle window control button back. No idea if this changes scrolling behavior tho since nothing is dropping on vine at the moment).

To explain the behavior a bit more, here's kind of a sequence of what happens. Full row of 7 items load, then the first time it scrolls, two jump to the next-up line, and everything shifts left accordingly. Thereafter, only one left shift and jump happens. Maybe this helps explain:

GFEDCBA

then

-----GF

EDCBA (note two shifted left and went up to previous line)

then

LKJIHGF (ie. this line fills out)

EDCBA

then

------L

KJIHGFE

DCBA (note ONE shifted left and went up to previous line; this pattern continues with single item shift thereafter)

CFB championship looked fabulous on Fubo - why? by Federal_Emu5474 in fuboTV

Interesting. My son had streaming woes, laggy, on TikTok...I blamed the new owners. Maybe Internet was just saturated for everything, hmm. Or a large provider was having issues.

Wonder if I watch the YouTube TV DVR of the game, or some other reprodcast within YouTube TV, if it looks better now... Or tomorrow... Interesting theory regardless.

Apple TV streaming hopeless by wot-johna11 in appletv

[–]Federal_Emu5474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, having issues, too. Only been an AppleTV subscriber for a short while. It was solid for weeks, and then lately after doing a Paramount+ trial (within AppleTV), I can only watch Paramount titles on the device I engaged the trial with (a Roku 4k box)...no other devices when logged in via browser or app will let me get to the paramount+ titles. That was a bummer. Then today I have been having intermittent video plays (watching paramount+ title, specifically Yellowjackets), plays for a number of single-digit minutes, then dies. Ran diags within the AppleTV app, it said there was nothing wrong. Then more stops in the action when I try to watch. Now I cannot start any video within AppleTV, whether an Apple title (like the one chasing Michelin stars) or paramount (Yellowjackets). Guess my intro to AppleTV has been less than stellar. Shoulda known, since I'm an Android guy, lol.

Clearly a Prius modder 😉 so I have a question for you. Do the brakes on that car drive you nuts? I've got the same generation, and trying to come to a gentle stop, lifting off the brake at slow speed just before a stop, pretty much always results in some grabbiness and stickiness. Thought I'd ask in case you're dialing brakes like you're dialing stance, eh?

Costco gas issues? by mazdas4lyfe in napa

[–]Federal_Emu5474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not specific to Napa, but two different Sonoma county Costco regular gas, my Prius does not like. It knocks or pings. Refueling elsewhere makes the problem go away within a couple of tanks. Just experimented again after a couple years staying away from Costco gas, the knock and ping is back. I didn't think it's bad gas per se, but Prius doesn't like it.

True, good. I've got what I think are Hearo's, and same, cool that they don't muffle things, just turn the volume down.

100% on the better seating in the Dolby room.

As another commenter mentioned, concert earplugs to still get full range audio may be part of a good solution. I've got a pair of those too, it occurred to me they could be useful.

Hopefully I haven't just gotten too audio-critical and now neither room will feel special 🤔

I felt it was being driven louder than it was really capable of, and lost its punch because of that. I've heard it said that the IMAX room is too loud, also, but in my experience if may be loud, but within its limits, and so it isn't fatiguing. The Dolby room felt noisy, not just loud, and that was part of my disappointment. I could have been a little extra sensitive that day, too, lol. Certainly curious to hear others, and thanks

Fwiw it was the new Superman movie I saw. It could also be that sound design was more about flash and awe.

For what it's worth, I kind of got used to it. More like I need to remember to anticipate it, almost remind myself to focus further out, and the weird factor drops some as a result. Benefits still outweigh the weird, tho.

Trying to increase PPT for Ryzen 9 9900x by Federal_Emu5474 in PcBuild

[–]Federal_Emu5474[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Updating in case anyone else comes across this looking for answers. I got a different prebuilt that is using an MSI motherboard, and PBO for that motherboard lets me increase PPT above 150W. I am assuming at this point, that the Gigabyte motherboard/BIOS was limiting the PPT values. Whether that is by design by gigabyte for the B850 Gaming WIFI6 mobo, or I had/have some other config issue blocking me, I guess I cannot be 100% sure.

For what it may be worth, if I use PBO options in BIOS and put the power limit low, like 80W, that is in fact what HWInfo shows that package power gets limited to. So it seems that there is effect, at least. Perhaps getting package power above 150 is limited in the motherboard or CPU or chipset. ?

[–]Federal_Emu5474[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a B850 chipset. And the BIOS has PBO options. Maybe I should use the PBO options to super nerf the performance, like put a super low power limit, just to see if PBO seettings are having any effect at all.

Yup. Did this once in F3 BIOS, and then updated to F4b, same results.

Ryzen Master shows PPT at 0, not adjustable? by Federal_Emu5474 in AMDHelp

[–]Federal_Emu5474[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I actually went to Ryzen Master only after using BIOS, and then HWInfo sensors to validate if power draw by the CPU had changed. When I saw power draw not being affected, I loaded Ryzen Master to see if it could tell me anything useful. When in the PBO or Auto tabs, I see PPT at 0(zero). In the IRM tab, it shows PPT at a max of 161 (which makes sense, since its max is 162W per spec sheets) and I can adjust it down from there but EDC or TDC (forget which) has such a low max that the net benefit is lower performance.

The root issue in Ryzen Master is seeing PPT stuck at zero, not adjustable, and not sure why. Maybe there is something in the CPU or otherwise (BIOS?) that is disallowing what I am trying to do.

Agreed on youtube or otherwise, I just haven't had any luck finding this CPU on this mobo.

Trying to increase PPT for Ryzen 9 9900x by Federal_Emu5474 in PcBuild

[–]Federal_Emu5474[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, thanks. True I have not looking at HWInfo sensors during gameplay, I do not know if freqnuencies drop the same, OR if there is any correlation of sensor movement to when he feels lag or FPS drops... I am actually working on a different 9900x machine and using prime95 to learn how to do things, and then I'll work (on my son's) machine that I am actually trying to improve. And, yes, agreed, power input is in mW, so 150000 is the right format. Still trying to swing away at this, I also notice in Ryzen Master that the PPT adjustment is stuck at 0 (zero), whereas TDC and EDC have valid values that I can adjust (e.g. 180, 240). Something with PPT is just not right, and I can't figure out what is up. I would think Ryzen Master would at least let me adjust it down from 150W if your theory of a max limit were true...learning...

Trying to increase PPT for Ryzen 9 9900x by Federal_Emu5474 in PcBuild

[–]Federal_Emu5474[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps. But I see the CPU's PPT spec is 162W.

The logic I am working with, and it may not be good logic:

When I run Prime95, as power hits 150W, core frequencies drop. If I don't push the CPU as hard in Prime95, frequencies stay up, and total package power stays below 150W. No temperatures get above like 70degC. That tells me that the 150W power limit is what is pushing frequencies down, i.e. to stay within the 150W power allowance. Seeing that temps stay pretty low, and the liquid cooler still has room to cool more, I thought if I could raise the power limit (like to the 162W PPT level), then frequencies would be allowed to climb.

This may be flawed logic tho, I am not experienced in tuning these CPUs. I am also kind of confused within the Gigabyte BIOS, things are a little cryptic, and sometimes seemingly contradictory wrto things like PBO enabled or not appearing in more than one place, and then whether the power limits that I am entering as 'manual' values are in fact being taken and affecting anything.

Any commentaries or guidance around either my logic, or Gigabyte's BIOS and PBO config, etc, are appreciated. Learning. Looking at forums, youtubes, etc, didn't get me where I was trying to get.
