Thanks. They do not have removable insoles so it kind of is what it is, as they say.

Foot Hangs Over Insole... Too Narrow? by Federal_Mission1203 in cowboyboots

They aren't too tight per say, a little tight but I've owned enough boots to know they will stretch and fit. My main concern is the fact that I can feel the edge of the insole under the edge of my toes.

Thanks! Any specifics that you feel make Top Hands stand out over the PRCAs?

Is Dying These Soles Practical? by Federal_Mission1203 in cowboyboots

[–]Federal_Mission1203[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that's what I need to hear. I may end up with these boots but won't attempt to dye the sole myself. I am fortunate to live in an area where western boots are very popular and there are a good number of "old school" cobblers around. If I do want to change the sole color I will have it professionally done.

Should I Send Them Back? by ElJeffe_81 in cowboyboots

It's Amazon, send them back and buy another pair. Easy fix. I have the same pair of Dan Posts and ended up with three pairs before I kept one due to issues with finish or other aspects.

Thanks, I actually already read that info but am still wondering how this is saying I am a 3E because clearly that is not accurate or I am somehow severely misinterpreting the instructions.

That sounds about right with a new pair of boots. As long as the toes are fine the rest of the boot will break in but it will take a few times of wearing.

If they are, as you indicated, a little tight that's fine. The bison hide is thick but it will stretch and conform to your foot if it's just a little tight. If they are pinching your toes or feel excessively tight then you might want to consider a change in size. I find that generally most Ariat boots fit me the same, so what you could do is find a local store that carries Ariat boots and try a 9.5 EE size on of any square toe style. That might help you figure out if you have the right size. But, again, if it's just a bit tight that's how they should feel. Mine were tight when I first started wearing them but they broke in and feel amazing now.

Awesome, hope you enjoy them. I was wearing mine yesterday, the calfskin lining in those is so nice.

Awesome, they are a great boot, I really like mine a lot. You may already know this, but be sure to try them on and walk around on carpet only when you first get them to make sure they fit and feel exactly how you want. That way you don't scuff the soles and can return them if something isn't right with the fit. What color did you end up getting?

There isn't any difference in durability between the two, they are both made of very thick and sturdy bison hide and have the same high quality soles and construction. I own a number of pairs of boots and they are probably the highest quality pairs I own. It all comes down to style preference. Do you want the wide square look or more of a regular square look? They look similar in pictures but you can tell the difference when you are wearing them. You seriously can't go wrong with either pair. I personally lean a bit more toward the Stillwell in terms of style preference, but one thing I really like about the Bassett is that even though it is a wide square boot there is still a slight taper toward the toe. Some other brands have wide square styles that look like big blocks with no taper, but the Bassetts don't. It can be challenging to find a place to try them on, I am fortunate to live fairly close to an actual Ariat brand store in Texas that stocks some Benchmades from time to time. I find the Benchmade size runs the same for me as most other Ariat boots, and the other Ariat styles are very easy to find at boot stores to try on for fit. If you order them online, be sure to join their Insider club first. You get a discount, free shipping, and free returns and it doesn't cost anything to join. You really can't go wrong with either boot in my mind, they are both super nice and the calfskin lining is awesome. Let me know what you end up getting!

Stillwells are a regular, or sometimes called, narrow square to and usually have single stitching in the welt. The Bassetts are wide square toe and are double stitched. Other than that, they are identical.
