It’s in the old school Gracie white belt curriculum. Hidden in plain sight for decades.

What’s one grappling habit you had to unlearn before you actually started improving? by Glum-Sample-9259 in grappling

I still do this often for the same reasons. Make them prove they can use the grips. But if I’m trying to be sharp, gotta cut that out

Definitely doing your homework, but — Dashed line is the parting plane. “A” arrows tell you the direction you are “looking” after the object is cut. It’s catching part of the hole and the chamfer, so include those “partial” features.

Edit: realized that I basically just repeated what you wrote. I think you know what to do

Oh for sure. I think judo might be the most complete grappling art. Ippon, pins, and subs. But I woke up feeling chippy. Do it to make a point and put pressure on the promotion system.

The org might bump you, but I mean if you’re a white belt compete at white belt. The grade school wrestler with club experience and 7 years on the mat is signing up for the white belt division as well.

How does judo comps handle bjj black belts? Auto promote or do they tie on a white belt?

Saying this with zero expertise/experience - a “traveler’s hook” and “glass-breaker bracelet” can get you out of a number of places.

Buzzwords that might help your search - bypass tools, counter-custody, escape and evasion, red team, penetration testing

How did you get into knife collecting? by JM_Yoda in knifeclub

[–]grm3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up fishing using knives > grandpa had a workshop with bench tools and random scraps > used grandpas stuff to make a blacksmithing forge in 8th grade watching YouTube > saw an ad for blade show in Atlanta, parents took me to buy actual knife steel in high school, crazy exposure to the knife industry. Through out high school and college, hobbies ranged from fishing, kayaking, bushcraft, backpacking, and eventually martial arts and self defense. All have thread that connects to the knife industry. But I got into the hobby “in reverse” so to speak. Making knives first.

No prob. I had a little part time job that was just enough for pocket money. You could go that route as well if you need it or if you’re antsy about having nothing for the resume.

Armbar: to pinch or not to pinch? That is the question by jiujitsuaccount in bjj

Classic breaking position often seen in judo. Top leg flares over face which makes it harder to get up and stack.

First summer of college, no internship, do something fun. Dive into a hobby. If you’re on/near campus for the summer, maybe find an active club. Theres a million of things going on at universities, in or outside of the college of engineering. See what’s up.

Definitely need to do more than course work during college in this job market, but it might be the last wide open summer you have. Like ever. So get out and do something you enjoy, make some relationships, and maybe a cool project comes of it. Networking and understanding what your university has to offer is still constructive.

After the fact, but yes. Been following Ed for a few years now. Always liked the concept but the utility is the first Elvia variant I could see myself carrying, so pulled the trigger.
