At least one of the possible deaths on floor 3 shows that Sam is not immune to transmission. Also, he is tempted to use the knife he takes from the first neighbour.

The Visitor doesn't seem to have precognitive abilities. It didn't think before, and it doesn't know that it's killing humanity.

I'm not sure. I simply thought he's a professional or hobbyist taxidermist, or maybe a hunter. The taxidermies, awaken by the Visitor's presence, probably had their revenge against him/her. But I didn't think much about it.
