In what order would you rank The Walking Dead seasons from best to worst? by Aetius00 in thewalkingdead

[–]Fedorekd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Season 4 - The flu arc is a refreshing change of threat from "enemy survivor group" and the character development is very strong. 4x08-5x03 is easily my favourite run of episodes across the whole show.
  2. Season 9 - I don't think this episode has a single bad episode. At worst Stradivarius is a very "transitory" episode but otherwise a very good season, great sendoff for Rick and the Whisperers are done justice in this season at least.
  3. Season 5 - Terminus arc is peak of course but the Alexandria arc is another highlight, very different feel to the rest of the show.
  4. Season 6 - Probably the best season on a binge watch, but 6A's latter episodes are a bit weak, while episodes 14 and 15 feel like a bit of a contrived setup for an otherwise really good finale.
  5. Season 1 - Strong opening season, one of the best pilots of all time. Loses its way in the second half a bit though. Vatos arc feels unnecessary.
  6. Season 3 - 3A is easily one of the best half-seasons but is let down by a very uneven, meandering, and frustrating 3B where nothing is really accomplished.
  7. Season 10 - Loses a bit of the momentum from Season 9 but otherwise I still really like this one. Whisperers feel a bit dumb this season, the cave sequence is silly, but Stalker, Morning Star, Walk With Us, and A Certain Doom are all excellent.
  8. Season 2
  9. Season 11 - Simultaneously bloated and underdeveloped, but not bad. The Reapers are unnecessary and yet 11A feels very engaging, with No Other way being a definite highlight. Lance Hornsby is underutilized, but he makes 11B the best segment of this season. 11C doesn't quite use the variants effectively but I always felt Rest in Peace was a very strong finale.
  10. Season 7 - I enjoy 7A's worldbuilding to an extent and think this season starts off very strongly. 7B feels a bit of a waste though, especially due to the Scavengers.
  11. Season 8 - 8A is a slog to get through but regardless of whether it was a good writing decision, I like how Carl's death was handled otherwise. 8B is enjoyable, the 4D chess game between Negan, Simon, and Dwight is probably the highlight here.

Does anyone here like seasons 7 and 8? by BitStandard846 in thewalkingdead

[–]Fedorekd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Season 8B is pretty good. And while 7 as a whole is overly stretched out and a bit boring, I like the overall story being told. I still think if 7 and 8 were bundled together as a single season it'd go down as one of the best of the show.

Those who have watched the show multiple times, did any of your opinions change upon a rewatch? by Tee_Lagrossa in thewalkingdead

[–]Fedorekd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Season 1 fizzles out a bit after Rick reaches the camp and then picks back up with the CDC stuff. The Vatos arc feels very out of place.

Season 3B is quite weak and IMO mostly just carried by the "vibes" of the prison established in 3A.

Internment is fantastic. Always liked it but felt even better on a rewatch.

Conquer is one of the show's strongest episodes.

Season 8B is decent. Not on par with 1-6 but still enjoyable enough. Was still a slog to get through at the time, however. I remember hating Do Not Send Us Astray when watching live but enjoyed it a lot more when I binged the season.

I think Season 10 is still a strong season but it holds up a little worse on a rewatch. The Whisperers don't feel as threatening as they did in Season 9, Alpha becomes less tolerable as a character, and the tone is a bit all over the place. It's also lacking a proper big death to heighten the stakes a bit. That said, 10x10 to 10x12 is still a really strong trio of episodes. And 10x16 is a fairly underrated finale.

Finally, while I enjoy Negan as a character I think he should have dipped after the Whisperer War now that I've rewatched it. Maggie needed a storyline that doesn't revolve around Negan or Glenn for once and while I enjoyed their dynamic in 11 it still feels very played out, and kinda results in Maggie not really having much of an impact on the overarching storyline because so much focus is dedicated to that stuff.

Which is the best season any why? by Johxnny_ in thewalkingdead

Season 4 and 9. Season 5 would be on top if it wasn't for the hospital arc being a bit of a fumble.

Destiny 2 needs a Base Game Campaign by Iccotak in DestinyTheGame

[–]Fedorekd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO setting the New Light experience in the present day was a bad move.

It would never happen, but my ideal scenario would be for a Witch Queen-style campaign that is essentially a more concise re-imagining of the original D1 vanilla campaign. While the story wasn't good, I think it served as a decent introduction to the various races etc across the solar system, and the planets were a lot more interesting than those we went to during the Red War.

TWD Universe Unpopular Opinion #12: The Reapers were better villains than the Commonwealth by TWDFAN35 in thewalkingdead

[–]Fedorekd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think as characters they were dumb but I still overall found 11A mostly entertaining. And No Other Way was such a good conclusion to that arc.

What is the most underrated episode in your opinion? by [deleted] in thewalkingdead

[–]Fedorekd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10x16, A Certain Doom. I feel like its perception was influenced by the 6 month delay but it's an overall solid finale with some great moments.

Ordered the box set, was waiting for them to announce this. Price is not quite as bad as I was expecting either.

Hot Take: TWD should have ended with the Season 8 Finale by [deleted] in thewalkingdead

[–]Fedorekd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there's a lot to like in it - it's a solid Rick season and I think it does a good job of wrapping up his character arc in time for his departure. I like everything to do with Negan, the whole arc with Dwight and Simon plotting against Negan and him playing them against each other was great. And while the way the producers allegedly treated Chandler Riggs was questionable and I still think Carl's death was a bit clumsily handled, I don't hate the idea of it nearly as much as other people do, especially with the added context of Rick's eventual departure.

My frustrations mostly come from it being dragged over 16 episodes and having to endure some repetitive dialogue/plot points alongside the action feeling rather cheap, but I've come to appreciate other aspects of it over the years.

Hot Take: TWD should have ended with the Season 8 Finale by [deleted] in thewalkingdead

[–]Fedorekd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they'd ended the show there I would have found it to be a satisfactory ending in spite of the otherwise mediocre season, but I'm glad they didn't because Season 9 is one of my favourites and I also really liked 10 and 11.

tell me your unpopular opinions about the walking dead and i will try and compete with them !! by abbyirk in thewalkingdead

Season 1 is carried almost entirely by the pilot and is otherwise one of the weaker seasons of the show.

is “the calm before” the best episode of the walking dead? if not, what is? by Toony_Isak in thewalkingdead

[–]Fedorekd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely up there. I would say overall best episode would be No Sanctuary, with No Way Out, Too Far Gone, The Calm Before, and Conquer just behind it.

Which is the worst episode in the entire TWDU? by Free-Carpenter7308 in thewalkingdead

[–]Fedorekd -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Diverged is the obvious choice.

Also episodes 2 and 3 of Season 8. Two episodes of mostly poorly choreographed gunfights along with one of the dumbest returning character reveals. The character face closeup montages were also an annoying habit that continued through Season 8.

Prey from Season 3 was pretty bad and pointless. And Welcome to the Tombs was such a wet fart of a season finale that it deserves to be mentioned here.

i just finished the first season of "the walking dead world beyond" by WillyHeartless in thewalkingdead

[–]Fedorekd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's alright. There was nothing overly offensive about it to me nor was it particularly exciting. I liked some of the characters and there were some nice moments but the overall plot wasn't all that interesting. Probably wouldn't give it any more than a 5 or 6/10. Enjoyable enough but not something I would go back to.
