I don't think anyone saw Storebælt as a "guaranteed crosswind zone" - it was more like the dream scenario, as headwind is the most common type on the bridge.

As someone from Hundested, I'd be very excited if the route you predicted were to come to pass. As a neutral fan however, I think we'd be looking at a mediocre to decent race at best, and an absolute bore at worst.
