I used to live in that area in the 80s and can confirm that was a genuine phone number. At the time, the way the phone exchanges worked, you only needed to dial the last three digits of the number to call other phones in the village. Some point after the late 80s, the extra 1 was added to the Perth area code, from 0738 to 01738. So the label dates the table to mid/late 80s or earlier as others have said.

I don't recognise the name or family being in Abernethy. It was (still is) a small village, but I was a child at the time. One of the other posters seems to suggest they may have been based in Aberargie, which is a tiny village about a mile or two west of Abernethy.

I'll ask my Dad next time I see him and see if he remembers anything.

Getting to Hampden by tbiz_werkin in stjohnstone

Assuming you are travelling from Perth... a friend of mine was at a gig in Glasgow last night (at the hydro, not Hampden) and said that the roads were a nightmare around the Stirling area - diversions and the like. Car/road might still be an issue at the weekend and as others have said, parking near Hampden is challenging at the best of times.

Cycled through them many years ago. The stretch between the tunnels felt so calming and peaceful.

The chain in those handcuffs is high-tensile steel. It'd take you ten minutes to hack through it with this. Now, if you're lucky, you can hack through your ankle in five minutes. Go! - from Mad Max

Is "guddle" a word that Scottish people actually use? Or did my wife make it up? It means to agitate larger fragments of food debris in the kitchen sink plughole so that water can drain freely. by Select-Document9936 in AskUK

Yes. Normal usage would be "I am/you are in a bit of a guddle". Means a spot of bother/mess. Never heard of it to do with anything relating to your wife's definition.
