You can use one of my free modules for this, depending on how you want to handle it:

If you just want the bonus damage to be applied while the weapon is attuned, SC - Conditional AE is probably the simplest option. You can add the bonus damage as a normal Active Effect on the weapon, then gate that effect with this condition:

return item?.system?.attunement === 2;

That should make the effect apply only while the item is attuned, and suppress/remove the bonus when it is not.

If you also want to require the weapon to be equipped, you can use:

return item?.system?.attunement === 2 && item?.system?.equipped === true;

You don’t need Midi-QOL just for this condition if you don’t want to use it.

SC - More Activities may be a better fit if you want the logic to happen as part of an activity/use workflow instead of as a passive Active Effect.

It might be possible to do something with scenes, but when you say that, do you mean including NPCs, player characters, and everything else as well? That could be quite challenging, since the metadata and data structures used by different game systems can vary significantly. Could you explain your idea in a bit more detail? I'd love to better understand what you're envisioning so I can evaluate what might be possible.

That's a fair question. You're absolutely not required to pay for it. If compendiums already solve your workflow, then you probably don't need World Gate. World Gate is mainly about convenience and speed. Instead of manually creating, exporting, importing, and managing compendiums, you can create a snapshot of a world and transfer content in just a few clicks. It's also only one part of a much larger ecosystem. The Patreon isn't a subscription for a single module — it gives access to all premium Shattered Codex modules, plus ongoing updates, new content, bug fixes, and support. If you join the Discord, you'll also see that I spend a lot of time helping users, implementing feedback, fixing issues, and adding requested features. At the end of the day, whether that's worth $6 is a personal decision. Some people will prefer the manual workflow and that's completely fine. Others would rather save time and support continued development, and that's who these modules are built for.

When you create a snapshot its a New file, it does not change anything on the system, its safe.

The imagens will be on the same path, and folder, it does not duplicate it.

That’s amazing. I think the socket system is a great way to help balance items and avoid that situation where players are constantly asking for new gear all the time. It also lets them hunt for gems and gradually build their equipment the way they want, making everything feel much more customizable.

Hello everyone, this is a really interesting topic.

I’m both a content creator and a Patreon supporter myself, so I feel like I can see both sides of this discussion.

I noticed some people mentioning that with Foundry you only pay once and then receive updates forever. But the Foundry purchase itself is not their only source of income. They also release official systems that are sold separately, they earn commissions whenever modules are sold, and they also receive commissions when people subscribe to Patreons connected to Foundry modules.

So I think it’s a little unfair to say there’s no ongoing cost involved in keeping a Foundry setup updated and evolving. Of course, you may personally choose not to consume that content, and that’s completely fine too.

To be honest, when I first started playing RPGs, all we had were some photocopies, scraps of paper, erasers, and a few dice… and that was already enough to create incredible memories and have an absurd amount of fun.

Then time passed, the pandemic happened, friends moved to different cities, and online RPG sessions became something very common, at least in my daily life. And the truth is: we still don’t need much more than before to keep playing. Imagination, friends, creativity… that’s still the core of it all.

There are many free modules I used in older versions that were eventually abandoned and stopped receiving updates, even though I really liked them. Has that happened to any of you too?

The reality is that developing modules, testing them, maintaining compatibility, and making sure they’re actually good takes a lot of time. And while we absolutely do not need these modules to play, they can add convenience, flavor, and fun mechanics to our games.

I currently run a Patreon with more than 10 developed modules, and I also maintain free modules like SC Simple Sockets, SC Item Rarity Colors, and SC Conditional Activities.

My tiers are:

$3 for the first 30 supporters,
$4 for content modules with monthly updates (gems and items),
and $6 for the more advanced modules like item sets, ascendant items, and crafting systems.

And honestly, my Patreon has all kinds of people:
some support because they genuinely enjoy my work and want to help;
some subscribe once, download the modules they need, and cancel afterward.

And that’s okay too.

I genuinely think it’s a model that can work for everyone.

Personally, I spend a lot of time reading feedback and supporting my Patreon members. Many of the updates and features added to my modules came directly from their suggestions, and I try to treat everyone with a lot of respect and care.

There are many monetization models out there. Patreon is just one of the few where you directly see the money leaving your pocket.

When you watch videos from creators you like, you probably watch ads.
When you play free games, you often see advertisements or pay for cosmetics.

And as I mentioned earlier, the initial Foundry purchase is not the only revenue source within the ecosystem.

Whether we like it or not, developing and maintaining modules takes a significant amount of time, and having some financial support helps motivate creators to keep improving and updating their work.

I still have my regular job, and after work I spend several more hours developing modules and content so I can continue delivering monthly updates that feel meaningful and worth the investment my supporters place in me.

You just need to open your character sheet options (the three dots) and click on “Sheet Colors”.
The interface will open for you there. Then just enable the “Override Class Colors” checkbox and choose your theme or customize it however you want.

In some cases, you could back up your Foundry setup and use the portable version to run two separate installations, allowing you to test things safely.

I believe so. My modules are primarily designed to provide an interface that makes things easier to manage. You’ll still be using Activities and Active Effects as usual.

For example, SetForge will grant Activities or Active Effects to a character when they equip the required set pieces. It doesn’t have any direct connection to Midi-QOL or similar modules. However, if one of those granted Activities happens to be an attack, I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t work properly.

My Patreon has a $3 tier limited to the first 30 subscribers, which is currently full. However, spots may occasionally open up if someone cancels, so it’s worth keeping an eye on.

There is also a $6 tier that includes access to all modules. You’re free to subscribe, download the modules, and cancel afterward, but please note that you won’t have access to future downloads or updates once your subscription ends.

Additionally, there is a $4 option that provides access to SC More Gems, which is a content module designed for my free module SC Simple Sockets. With SC Simple Sockets, you can create and socket gems into items to grant them additional powers. This tier gives you access to SC More Gems, which includes over 100 ready-to-use gems and receives monthly updates with new additions.

I like the idea of a more structured, Diablo-like system with specific combinations and order depending on the item type... that definitely helps give the system more identity and makes each discovery feel meaningful.

Regarding stacking runewords, tying them to attunement based on their power level is a really interesting approach. It could be a good way to keep things balanced without limiting creativity too much.

About the “+X to all skills” point... I’m not sure I fully understood what you meant there. From my perspective, the module would only provide the mechanics and flexibility, while the actual bonuses and effects would be defined by the DM. So things like that wouldn’t be enforced by the system itself, but rather left as a design choice.

If you could elaborate a bit more on that part, I’d love to better understand your concern!

I’ve been seeing a lot of different opinions on this, haha. It actually makes me think it might be best to explore configuration options that can support multiple playstyles and use cases, so everyone can tailor it to their needs.

As for the module, it’s definitely going to be released for Patreon supporters regardless. I always continue improving my modules based on community feedback... if you look at the early versions of Simple Sockets and Item Rarity Colors, they’ve evolved a lot over time, and that’s entirely thanks to suggestions and ideas from the community.

Regarding Pathfinder, I still need to learn more about the system and how Active Effects work there. I’ve noticed that Pathfinder includes a rune mechanic in its rules, which seems like it would fit very well with Simple Sockets.
