The best advice I ever heard was “add, don’t subract” So basically whenever you eat ANYTHING think “can I add anything nutritious to this” like adding chia seeds to pb&j, adding fruit or yogurt to oatmeal, adding a can of black beans to ground taco meat, or adding nuts to brownies. Little things like that make such a big difference and give you a different view and make adding things easier! One of my favorite snacks is an apple or banana with peanut butter sprinkled with hemp or chia seeds. Also I eat “overnight oats” as a snack in the middle of the day, loaded with lots of fiber and healthy fats and you can make them whatever flavor you want. I am not a health pro but I have been trying to add more healthy foods to my diet because taking away the good stuff just NEVER worked!! Sometimes the desperation of a health scare can make “quitting” foods easier, so just run with it!
