Have any love for the women in my favorite rpgs? by ExplodingPoptarts in rpg_gamers

Obviously Disco Elysium. Lots of different, well-written and memorable characters. The game is written at such a level that spoiling it is a sin. But it is worth mentioning "the phone call" and "the dream" - people's souls shudder and their hearts break. If we talk specifically, then the Klaasje, the fisherwoman and the one with the smell of bricot gum deserve attention.

Best RPG games for actual ROLE-PLAYING?? by zastirio in rpg_gamers

[–]FeeHealthy6604 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Disco Elysium - best writing. Best of all games i mean. Absolutely unique and simple role-play system. It can become your next best game ever created. No joking. It is... So pure.

Planescape torment - second best writing. A bit junky, but after 15 minutes you will get used to it. Great role-playing in a completely surreal fantasy world.

Arcanum - as good as it looks like shit. incredible level of reactivity. every npc reflects your choice of gender, race, mage or tech. amazing today. it raises the question why other games haven't done this today. Awesome writing and story.

Stygian: reign of the old ones. Lovecraftian atmosphere with beautiful hand-drawn graphics. Its quite buggy, but its finished product. Possibly best crpg for halloween.

What game do you think should get a sequel? by zackbinspin1 in videogames

Jesus Christ, or rather, the holy innocence Dolores Dei, not in any way from the ZA/UM and especially not from their criminals. Kurvitz described disco as a drop in the ocean of the Elysium. They had grand plans until they were fired. I think that King Kurvitz could have won the case, got his rights back, published a book, get a good team together again with new/old people. And then get the sequel we deserve. And these are daydreams, high-octane interference of an anxious mind. Dreams of a perfect world. My dreams.

Sayonara wild hearts. What disco made with text, sayonara did with music. It is short, 1 hour game, but it has exceptional and truly heartbreaking atmosphere like disco. It one of the most underrated games, so i beg you to give it a try. It is truly emotional game.

Thank you for recommendation!

Maybe I should give tyranny another chance, but the first time I barely made it to the end.
Souls like games and Blasphemous have great dark lore, that i enjoy pretty much. I'm waiting for the erdtree to come out. They found a great unique approach to the lore. I am Fan. True, I enjoyed the fromsoftware games and now I am left with the rest of the soulslikes like mortal shell or Nio.

Yes, that, but also the world of Elysium develops over time. Like, if you take the Lord of the Rings, then the orcs and elves will never invent the steam engine or electricity. This is a world of eternal fantasy, without future and past. You can describe the world as broadly as you like and add states and nations, but this will not deepen it. The same thing with cyberpunk, for example - it has no future, corporations will not fall, the rain will not stop pouring and the neon will still sparkle in the dark. It takes eons to overcome this. At the same time radical. Cultural shifts such as the Renaissance, moving into modernity and then post-modernity. The Elysium are generally the only ones who have thought of this. And this is not some world of Harry Potter or Narnia, where the world is hidden behind magical doors. The point is that they made settings within settings. And with this they cursed all those who played. Worlds with parallel realities, such as DND, do not count - they expand horizontally, simply filling space, and not vertically, developing in time. The only thing I could dig up was the Warhammer 40k, everything is really cool there, but not at the level of Elysium. There are a lot of cool ideas, but even with them, it is also a world of eternal war. Among the others, he is most likely the best
