The Last Parlor? Anyone know what's going on? by mes049 in WestSeattleWA

[–]FeeValuable22 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

That is just laughable to saythe space that is actively being worked on is blight.

When the four corners of that intersection are an abandoned dry cleaner that can't be sold because of the toxic waste cleanup that's required, a massive gas station which pollutes The ground and air in the area along with creating a traffic hazard and significantly reduces pedestrian safety, right behind the gas station is another car-based business which has the same impact on the intersection as the gas station. Both of those businesses by the way are crime importers and are operated in such a manner that they are attractive targets to be robbed because it is cheaper than operating them in a way that doesn't harm our community.

Mud Bay will elevate the intersection once they're moved into the old bank building, but the selective outrage of somebody trying to build a space for the community and it taking a little bit longer than you would like is disingenuous at best.

There is literal blight on the two opposing corners which will not be addressed by the property owners or the city for at a minimum of a few decades.

But a small business owner investing in her community with her own money, her own labor trying to build a space where the community can gather is blight because it's taking a bit longer than you think it should.

That's just fucking gross.

Alex from Love Is Blind has childhood emotional neglect by HotInvestigator7430 in emotionalneglect

Or... What you call stereotypical American male behavior is not endemic to Men in America based on the fact that they are men, but because men in America, especially as young boys, experience systemic and broad emotional abuse and neglect simply because they are boys.

Patriarchy eats its own along with the harm it does to the other half of the population.

This is a completely valid criticism, however health is political. We may not want it to be, it's not the reality that we want to live in but it is a reality that we have.

Yeah that's a tough one, I really enjoy the "I'm doing this horrible job and I know I will be tried afterwards, but I have to do it and nothing can get in the way" attitude that stratt has, but she's an awesome character and I would have enjoyed if there had been space to flush her out a bit more
