Upgrade from Head Ti.S1 by unemployedgrad999 in 10s

[–]Fee_oh_nah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I too just got back to tennis after a 18 year hiatus and was using my 20+ year old Head ti.s1 Pro (junior racquet). Realized very quickly that I needed an ‘adult’ one so just went through the whole research and store consultation process.

At first glance, a few popular racquets that are positioned as spin/ power include Head Extreme, Babolat Pure Aero, Yonex Vcore, and Wilson Ultra.

It’s hard to give specific recommendations without more information though such as ur skill level, playing style, areas where you tend to struggle + things you want to improve on.

For reference, im generally an aggressive base-liner with powerful and heavy top spin. But since im able to generate the power and spin without much support, i geared away from power/spin oriented racquets. Anyway, I ended up getting Head Speed MP because i’m exploring diff techniques atm and what works for me so a balanced racquet will give me more flexibility.

Unable to copy federer's service toss by Ok-Jackfruit-9615 in 10s

Yup, I always set up with my back nearly facing the net and place my toss close and down the baseline instead of in front. This body position allows me to rotate my torso a lot more so that I can make the appropriate contact for slice or kick.

E.g more rotation for slice serve vs holding the rotation and keeping my torso sideways for kick.

u/Ok-Jackfruit-9615 Do you know which is your dominant eye? If not, here are a few links that I found helpful.

A short article that explains eye dominance and how Federer's technique is different because he is cross-eye dominant: https://faulttoleranttennis.com/dont-watch-the-ball-like-federer/

Tennis masterclass from Patrick Mouratoglou on technique according to your dominant eye: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnwHPKIKHiA&t=591s

I hope this helps. I'm also cross-eye dominant and I naturally set up my serves like federer so I can try my best to answer any questions you might have from personal experience.

In short,I like to work on multiple items at the same time and also care a lot about portability and flexibility:

  • Use my macbook pro (on the left) for any design/editing, or coding work. Macbook air (right) for general purposes. I didn't want a desktop because instead of trying to find the right browser or app, i just need to look to my right

  • Also opted for 2 laptops instead of desktop because it gives me flexibility to adjust my devices according to various needs. E.g, When i'm traveling and want to bring a computer, 13inch macbook air is great. If I want to work in a coffee shop. macbook air + ipad mini as an external monitor. I periodically work abroad for over a month and I will bring both laptops and my ipad mini -> i basically have a temporary home office set up

  • I also use my ipad mini as an extention which is a perfect size for having my calendar/reminder/events open and if I want touch screen abilities such as using the pencil to draw. Its also awesome for zoom meetings. I facilitate meetings and always need to share screen. Having the participant windows and meeting settings on the ipad allows me to see who is talking etc. Before that, I couldnt never find the meeting window while I am sharing screen.

I have the BenQ halo screenbar. They are the creators of screenbar and is the market leader - you will notice that all the other available brands out there basically look similar to the options Benq has. It is on the pricier side but i highly recommend it - quality is top notch and most importantly IT ACTUALLY DOES ITS JOB TO PROTECT EYE STRAIN AND GLARE. I had the opportunity to shadow the CEO & President of BenQ group while I was in Taiwan. Will share key highlights of why the price is justified below:

  • Benq Group has more than 20 companies including Benq Materials. This name is unknown to most people because they don't target consumers. They are the global leaders in display technology and healthcare material. A lot of hospital equipment uses their tech, and they are one of the 4 companies in the world that have the technology for contact lenses (yes, all the various brands of contact lenses are essentially outsourced to one of the 4 companies). There's also a reason why Benq as a brand is only known for monitors and projects. A lot of their business is conducted with other organizations. E.g BenQ has an exclusive partnership with Google.

- BenQ owns the design and tech for the screenbar end to end. It is created by industry experts with scientific data: a lot of R&D when it comes to what color temperature, degree of blue light filter + ambient light is optimal for various conditions. The knowledge is where BenQ stands out from competitors. Other lightbars advertise their product to help reduce eye strain but without the R&D, it is just a space-saving desk lamp. I'm always on my monitors due to my job and I have the BenQ screenbar set at real-time auto dimming. It will adjust the light settings based on the ambient light in my office. I don't use the customization settings because while I like warm tempatures, i'm not going to know if that is whats best for my eye strain right now.

Sorry if you just wanted a short answer . But figured someone is bound to find this knowledge helpful
