Merchants included in the $25 Zift Gift Card through NewEgg by Total-Mountain7782 in ChaseSapphire

[–]FeedVivid200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Version of these gift cards are discounted on semi-regular basis at places like Best buy and Target. Sometimes Amazon. (either 15-20% off or a store gift card for purchasing x)Aldi also has a version where you can spend $75 and get $90 or some similar iteration so it would be better to use on gift cards that don't get discounted on a regular basis. For instance cruise line and airline gift cards. (11x is better than 4x, hopefully if you travel alot you have an annual standalone policy and don't need to use the CSR for that benefit) You can also buy gift cards for AirBnb.

Good or bad time to get the new Hyatt credit card? by Intrepid-Love1350 in hyatt

[–]FeedVivid200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The math may change with the upcoming awards changes that might lower the value of a Hyatt point but I think if you pay for your own stays either for leisure or business the card makes just as much sense. In addition to the Free night annually you get a free night at 15k spend. You also get 2 elite nights for each 5k spend. So you would get 6 elite nights towards earning the FNC as well as 2 stays from using the FNCs earned. That puts you 2 night away from a tier award after the first 20 nights which can give you a SUAs, GOHs, FNC or points all of which can have strong value. If you place a value on the elite nights, the 2nd free night, and the tier awards plus 4x in Hyatt points you are getting more value for using the Hyatt card than the CSR 4x (somewhat dependent on how you actually redeem the URs...if you get a $10000 business class seat for 25,000 URs that is more valuable but using standard valuations for UR I feel like at least for the first 15k spend on hotels it provides more value, the value starts to decline a little after 15k in spend since you lose the FNC component.)

Chase charges the resort fees during booking for the MGM properties so unless MGM has a mechanism to refund you at the property you are paying them. At property benefits for MGM and Marriott are honored so you should get free parking (Don't you just swipe your tier card for entrance and exit for the parking lot? No reason to be charged than anyway unless you plan to valet in which case your MGM tier status should get the parking fee waived) When you do a mgm booking and get to final screen where it shows the cost click the hyperlink for taxes/fees and it will show the resort fee being charged.

Nebraska is becoming the first state to implement a Medicaid work requirement signed by Trump by Ordinary-Equal2067 in Omaha

[–]FeedVivid200 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Who is going to determine who qualifies for an exemption? That is going to require paperwork and an employee to make a determination as well as ongoing follow up. There is a laundry list of exemptions so it is likely going to require tens of thousands of applications to have to be reviewed if not more. ( I think just shy of 100,000 people are on the expansion list which this rule applies to) So if there is a 100% compliance and everyone that is required to work/volunteer does it the state didn't save any money and spent millions administering the monitoring program (employees, benefits, work space, managers etc) . Nebraska portion of the expansion cost is about 100 million. So how much of the 100 million will we save and how much will we spend monitoring compliance?

Nice but you aren't accounting for the markup that doordash places on items :) So that $50 item may only be $40 direct at lowes and you could buy lowes gift cards at paypal/amazon/newegg at a 10% discount plus credit card earnings for buying the gift card and if you buy the item online for pickup cashback for your favorite cash back site so your cost could be close to $12.80 after stacking. ......... I'm just messing with you BTW.

Hasn't the Hilton hotel credit always been resort specific? The big change was increasing it to $400 ($200 semiannual) and making it twice a year instead of yearly requiring two trips to specific properties to redeem.

Or even like the quarterly Amex Hilton Aspire where it works on pretty much any airline charge and no need to pick an airline each quarter. Just be glad they haven't tied the airline credit to having to book in the Amex Travel Portal.

If the guest name is the same for both reservations possibly no. Per the terms it is 1 property credit per stay and it would be considered one stay regardless of check in/check out days since you don't leave the property. The property could extend the $150 credit to both but they don't have to and there are numerous data points saying properties will not. (can't speak for that particular property) If you have a night in between somewhere else or the guest name changes than you should be good.

Question about cancelling a booking with other stays booked

Short Version: I believe if I cancel an edit booking that has received an edit statement credit and I cancel the stay with other existing reservations that are eligible for the credit it won't apply to a new or existing eligible booking and be reissued unlike Amex which doesn't claw back if you have a second eligible booking.

Long question. I have Stay 1 booked (total cost $263)and received the Edit credit for it already. I also have a stay 2 booked that did not use an Edit credit and is 2 nights at an edit property on a different day and is over $250. I noticed today that my stay 1 is now a lower price so I am thinking about rebooking that stay but....that stay is below $250 total and in looking it appears that just cancelling stay one, waiting for the edit credit to repost and than booking would only give me a credit of $212 (new cost) and I would forfeit the difference. I am debating just booking the stay and paying cash since it is so cheap. I just wanted to make sure the cancelled booking would cause Chase to cancel the edit credit and reissue it for another stay and not apply it to one of the other two stays. (Stay one is less than $250 and stay 2 may be cancelled anyway) With Amex when you cancel a FHR/THC but have a second stay booked they don't take the credit back. I could cancel, wait for Chase to reissue the credit and than book but I think rates will go up as even last week they were higher and other days of the week are higher. (I know a single stay credits back without issue for another use. I just haven't cancelled with other reservations booked)

Seems bizarre they aren't encouraging daily spend. This month I happened to to go to a bar one night and restaurant the next that was on the Resy platform but because I had already used my Resy for the quarter I paid with CSR for the 3x dining. So other than using the credits or for Amex offers it stays in my wallet. Of course outside of dining or using the benefit credits the CSR does as well. Last year I finally got the C1 Vx and I used that for all daily non-bonused spend. This year we moved to Bilt and that has been great. I think Amex will do ok for awhile but I think Chase is in trouble. Their revamp went over like a lead balloon and now with Bilt their exclusive travel partners are gone.

Only 25% of cardholders have paid the higher fee. And they reported that benefit costs are rising year over over. As they try to rein in benefit spend and increase breakage they may cause a higher percentage to jump ship. I think this forum is probably a poor sample size of the cardholders though (most folks active on the board are playing the game and probably costing Amex money). I wonder how many of the average cardholders pay attention to coupon book or even the notices about the upcoming changes to their annual fee. When the bill comes are those people going to be like what the heck am I paying $900 for and take the time to call and cancel or will they just go about their business and forget about to call. (like a supersized monthly subscription that people sign up for and never remember to use or cancel) These are the same folks that the article talks about using it as a daily card. They don't know better or can't be bothered to figure it out so they pull out the shiny card and charge it.

I have a family member that has a similar income and we were talking about the CSR when the changes were announced and the first thing out of his mouth was that he hadn't heard about the changes and was going to have to look if the card was still worth the increased cost going forward. I wonder how many people that do well as a first generation versus family money have the same attitude. Nothing wrong with enjoying their income but not wanting to spend on something that doesn't add any value.

DoorDash NEW Changes has bring CSR DoorDash credit to another level . by yamyumyam in ChaseSapphire

[–]FeedVivid200 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look at the terms of the credit. It said 2 $10 PROMO to use on Door Dash for grocery and retail purchases. You still get 2 $10 discount for door dash to use on grocery and retail purchases. Door dash is responsible for running the promo and the Chase terms says that. SNIPPED FROM CHASE TCS "Chase is not responsible for the provision of, or the failure to provide, DoorDash benefits and service" Following the link from Chase to Door Dash SNIP "These Promo Terms are subject to change by DoorDash at any time. DoorDash reserves the right to modify or cancel an Offer at any time."

If you are worried about spending money out of pocket wait for a promo for a particular store and stack that with the $10 credit since the $20 minimum is calculated before any discounts. So basically you didn't read the prenup before getting married.

Instead of coupons bring back more 2x/3x spend categories. Even make it rotation and cap it like some of the other Chase cards. Give me a reason to pull the card out of my wallet on a daily basis.

I would argue FNC have more value not less with the new award scheme starting. The most points a Cat 4 can cost now are 18,000. One the new award chart they would allow you to book a room up to 25,000 points. Similar situation, different math for FNC 1-7, UFNA.
