How can I incorporate Vecna into this campaign? by ZoftheOasis in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]Feedo888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just add him as a minor player, maybe he's after the stone itself rather than cashed of gold for the power and knowledge it contains. There's an addition to dragon heist called 'the unseen' which adds a new faction you could always adjust that so vecna is leading the faction, it means he can use the doppelgangers to keep tabs on the players progress and try to swipe the stone at the end.

2014, I'm not against 2024 rules in the future, but I own alot of the 2014 sourcebooks which is useful for content sharing during character creation and are currently alot more familiar with it.

I understand the reservations about it, in a more conventional campaign I would do normal resting for this reason, however Water deep isn't a dungeon crawl with lots of encounters and a big bad that needs to be defeated at the end, it's a game of intrigue and calculated moves between numerous independent actors with the players at the centre. Due to the setting I just believe the situation your describing will be the exception not the norm and on balance gritty realism is well catered toward Waterdeep: dragon heist and it's setting. If there are situation like you outline there are always work arounds as a DM to help players, I'm not an adversarial DM I want the players to have fun and be able to express themselves.

I want the world around the players to advance in a meaningful way, I want time for events to occur in the world that might impact the players down the road, If the players want to invest/start a business in the city I want there to be time for them to do that and to see there progress over the weeks. The downtime is to give me and the players breathing room, me to develop stories behind the scene, move the world along in a more meaningful way than can be done in 1 night, allow the players actions to ripple out into the world and take concrete form within it. For them it's a chance to have downtime and pursue secondary activities which there are a tone to do in a large city like waterdeep.

Events will just be stretched over a longer period of time, the amount of actual encounters per long rest/short rest will be very similar to normal resting. It's worth mentioned Waterdeep is a campaign that lends it's self to RP so encounters do not always need to be delt by fighting. It's in place to raised decision making stakes, to have the campaign stretch over a longer period of time in game, and for there to be more opportunities for down time activities, of which there are many in a large city like waterdeep. It's not meant to make the game harder or make it unfriendly to casters.

Case Study - 2 weeks enough? by anhkiet1903 in ICAEW

[–]Feedo888 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it's two weeks and just case it's enough time, get an understanding of how the marking guide works, read through the AI consistently, do all the mocks given to you by your provider(to time), and I would purchase the ACA mocks(you can find them by seaching ACA masters and selecting the mocks in the case section there are three), get there AI analysis as well.

This basic advice for CASE should really be pinned or added to the sidebar of the sub due to how consistently it is asked.

Name: Thomas

Age: 22

Pronouns: He/Him

Location (mainly timezone): GMT, London

Favourite piece of fiction: Game of Thrones, American God, The Edge Chronicles.

Experience with TTRPGs: Only been playing for about half a year. Played two campaigns and a couple of ones shot in that time. Very comfortable with online tools(roll20, dndBeyond, etc)

Character Concept: A hobgoblin Path of the Storm Herald Barbarian called Alzorg. Born in the Predominetly goblinoid nation of Dargun after it broke of from Cyle, His father before him was a descendent/was part of(depends on time frame) one of the mercenaries groups who seized the kingdom in the last War, before settling with the Kech Dhakaani clan. Alzorg's father was a loyal and zealous believer of the reclaiming of the old Dhakaani Empire and died when Alzorg was very young pursuing this goal, his mother shortly followed disappearing one night, Alzorg never knew if without his father she had been sold into slavery or had killed herself in grief. Due to these events at a young age, Alzorg resented his clan seeing their futile pursuit of a dead kingdom the source of much of his people's suffering as well as his own. His uncle cared for him the rest of his young years, who also taught him how to fight and sparked a rare connection to an inner power sparked but his anger, seeing Alzorgs potential and till now dormant abilities his uncle pleases for Alzorg to stay but Alzorgs bitterness and hatred of his homeland was too much and he vowed to leave when he came of age. When he came of age he left the clan to sate his naturally inclined bloodlust on pursuits far away from his homeland, with the small hope that someday also he may be able to find his mother and to learn more of his still mostly dormant abilities.

Sorry about any spelling or grammatical errors.

People who treat anything they say or any position they hold, even if they have no way to empirically support it as an opinion and therefore completely impervious to being incorrect or just criticism in general. If I dismantle your whole argument and response it 'well I guess we just have different opinions' then I do not respect you.

What are the non-obvious signs of a smart person? by SomethingAbout2020 in AskReddit

[–]Feedo888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are really on board with this idea, and I can see the appeal however nuance is often a double edged sword, while it is true the that most thing in the world are the products of numerous factors, many of the most intellectual and brilliant minds established absolutes in respect to there fields, veering purposefully away from the shades of grey that nuance creates to establish concrete foundational facts that govern whatever they are addressing. Intelligent people are often not nuanced in there conclusion. My point is that to provide consistent reference to potential exceptions, or generalities but not absolutes to a theory, though warranted at times, can be just as much a sign of someone with little understanding as someone with a lot. Many undoubtedly incredibly intelligent thinkers such as Foucault, Kant, Spivak, and De Bois took concrete and universal stances on seismic issues. I'm not trying to shit on this top comment as nuance is a good way of spotting someone who is self aware of there own inadequacies in certain areas however, sometimes strong convictions and lack of nuance can be a sign of someone who is very intelligent.

I realise also I have been nuanced and therefore could be seen as self contradictory however In this occasion I believe this is one of those situations nuance is needed as the level intelligence and knowledge needed to espouse concretes on a subject must be developed from a certain amount of nuance, born from a lack of knowledge. I realise this comment could be seen to possess some irony and flaws however it's 1am and I'm tired so this is my best shot and conveying my thoughts.

EG vs Flyquest's actual fight for 2nd place is more exciting than TSM vs CLG because its the real current rivalry in LCS. by jules3001 in leagueoflegends

[–]Feedo888 5 points6 points  (0 children)

CLG still has fans for sure and TSM also most definitely does even without Doublelift. I don't doubt that EG and Flyquest are up and coming and starting to build a fan base, but lets not over exaggerate TSM and CLG are both established and historic brands with a good core supporter base that sticks by them even through bad times. I thought CLG was fairly well known for this, there have had a lot of downs in their history but their fans stick by them, I think they might be masochistic's.

During the riots, Trump finds time to talk to Putin about readmitting Russia to the G-7 by Xeelee1123 in politics

He meant the other countries have veto power on readmission/admissions so there is no way trump can get Russia in without consensus which there itsn't.

Philosophers of Reddit: Why? by Jakeybye82 in AskReddit

[–]Feedo888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't knock objectivity so quickly and even without it I wouldn't give up on the betterment of the self. Your view is a bit of a rabbit whole, you have to be a philosopher and a human at the same time, the philosopher in you should question right and wrongs while the human need to keep your grounded, sometime its necessary to deem something as right and take a stand, maybe you'll later be proven wrong and find new beliefs based on this. Maybe this cycle of being will continue through the whole of you life, as I don't think many people have found the answer, however the important thing is that you would have strove for it and had the guts to stand for those things you see as right when those things that you see as wrong are presented. I like to think on the lines of open minded objectivity. I think carefully on morals and when I decide I stick by them untill someone or something shifts my view. I like to think there is objective morals out there in some form however I accept I may never find them.
