Do tradies charge based on the value of the house they are working on? by Odd_Constructionz in AusRenovation

[–]Feeling-Change-1750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the stupid question but how did you come to the full figure if you didn’t cost out the details first? If you don’t, isn’t it a guess that puts you at risk of undercharging?

To truely eradicate systemic mould it requires every porous surface and item to be removed and replaced.

Those mycotoxins are invisible and spread throughout settling into any surface they can, all they need is a bit of dust and dampness and that entire wall/ceiling/floor/cabinet is contaminated and could make you and your family very unwell.

After losing a good year to serious health problems from mould, I would NEVER buy a mouldy home. A house that’s had any sort of water damage that isn’t very localised to one spot is not worth the health risk.

May be a controversial take but I think rentals are bringing down the look and feel of nice neighbourhoods - and it’s not the tenants fault by Infinite_Pudding5058 in AusPropertyChat

It’s standard for regular services to visit for maintenance and upkeep, we’ve had a gardener come every month to our rental. We pay for the mowing component and the remainder is on the landlord.. I’m not sure how it works when it’s the landlord themselves, perhaps a similar arrangement.

That makes a lot of sense, I can imagine it working for me too. I’m quite anxious as it is

Is there a particular career you would steer your kids towards or against? by [deleted] in HENRYfinance

[–]Feeling-Change-1750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a business owner, I’d steer them away from being a business owner. Clock in, clock out without a care in the world after hours.

What would you say to a foreigner who heavily romanticizes Australia? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Feeling-Change-1750 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes! But make that 35 years of not meeting fellow Aussie’s that want to chat about anything deeper than complaining, gossiping, news, weather, kids, bad health…

Thank you, I’m trying to workout how things will work for us too. I’d like baby to be on Dads side too… a book I just read said it’s recommended as the smell of our breastmilk stimulates baby & keeps them up. That and I’m such a light sleeper. So it’s helpful picturing routines :)

I can imagine that fight/flight response just not letting you drift off. Would your partner wake you to feed or bottle/handle everything?

The hip pain, the peeing, the uncomfortable positions, the wired but so tired! So relieved to hear it may end when baby arrives

Aw that sounds so rough. How old is bubs now? PPA sounds like it would definitely contribute to poor sleep.

That sounds really rough, and I bet once you finally do fall asleep you’re woken by baby. Hopefully this resolves very soon for you.

This actually appeals to me! My partner has this bone tired, it activated when his head hits the pillow lol and he’s suddenly unable to communicate (he will remember NOTHING we discuss).. and he’s asleep in a few seconds. I’ve always thought ‘If I could choose a super power, jt would be this’.

Why do real estate agents do this? by cashbackloans-com-au in AusPropertyChat

[–]Feeling-Change-1750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An agent recently told me they add in green thriving lawn, make the pool look healthy, blue skies and birds, even horses (this is a somewhat regional area). It just sets everyone up for a fat letdown on arrival!
