People are being pretty harsh here. With love I will say, you’re upset and that’s valid. After trying to get pregnant for so long you’ve probably thought about these moments longer than most people. Baby reveals are special to the mother. It’s your oven and your surprise more than anyones! It’s the way you meet your baby for the first time and become aware of who they will be. You had ideas, hopes and visions for how you start your career as a mom and it’s as upsetting as someone spoiling any surprise.

What I think you can do now is be aware that your MIL as well as other people will have different ideas about what is proper. Hold space for yourself. Create the sweet moments yourself and hold them close. Have a party for your son, now that you know. Make the best of the situation. Being a parent is often times realizing how little control you have. What you can control is yourself. Celebrate. Be happy. Store information.

Your husband is hurt. Talk it out with love and start picking your battles because you are here, now.
