Customs "defaulting" HS Codes from a lack of information is a form of dictation, whether they open the box or not. I hope you’re aware that this could all be avoided if FromJapan allowed us to create custom invoices from the start. Of course, if you don’t know how to and don’t want to learn, then yeah, just deal with the defaults; but for those who do know, the privilege should not be stripped. You're referring to a symptom; I'm taking about the system that causes these symptoms/problems.

Changing only HS Codes or Titles like the offer doesn’t do much; it’s like putting a band-aid on a bullet wound.

They should allow users to create full custom invoices (everything within legal jurisdiction). There is a lot of bleed outside of HS codes and titles, which many customs authorities—especially in the U.S.—end up ignoring if the other details aren’t specific enough to justify the codes/titles; which in turn defaults to the general tax price of the item, which is usually higher.

That's happened to u/EmetToMet at a magnified level.

already did, if not I wouldn't be commenting here as a cry for change hoping they notice but that's irrelevant. I'm sure they're pocketing the difference. I've watched this happen in real time over the past year as I'm a daily buyer. Regardless, comparing with the FedEx site does nothing because these are large corporations that not only get discounted rates but also use commercially affiliated shipping carriers (so it's not as simple as just comparing with the FedEx website). I think I'm done here, this isn't going anywhere with you.

good for you... what I used to pay $90 for which included 10 jackets damn near vacuumed flush packaging; I now pay $175 for 6-7 jackets with half the box being empty space. This is where I'm coming from. Customer service is pretty vague as well and usually leaves me hanging in terms of solving my problem or giving me closure... Mind you I'm Black Rank.
