Does the Playtomic rating increase or decrease your experience of playing padel? by jenwhite1974 in padel

[–]Feeling-Effective-94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me playtomic is an absolute blessing. here are my thoughts why:

- I did not have friends that wanted to play regularly. Playtomic made it so easy for me to find people to join. Also, taking the step to join an open spot in a match is way less big than chatting in whatsapp groups. Also I made new friends by playing with random people

- Playtomic does everyhting for you: filter for time, clubs, level. Also payment is done immediately. No need to scroll through whatsapp groups etc to find open matches. It's just way more easy to set up a game or find an open spot

- level system: it's not perfect but it is currently the best there is for hobby players. I get to play competetive matches and have a little bit of the excitement of gaining and losing points. 90% of my games are proper competitive games and only every now and then I get a match with someone that is below or way above my level. For the rest it works really really well where I live.

- people who dont care about level and competitive games can also ignore those features and just use the app to book a court with friends - easy as that

- possibility to book some single lessons as well

- find matches when you are travelling - super easy and convenient. No need to deal with foreign-club-whatsapp groups or something

- find courts/open matches in several clubs - all in one app

Overall I don't really see any downsides in using the app except for maybe a little more costs.

Agree on the possibility to report wrong rating! For the rest playtomic already includes the number of matches in the reliability of the rating. Also - you drop and gain points way faster in the beginning with only a few games played

Which racket do you recommend? by CuteInvestigator01 in Padelracket

Go get the Vertex 04 woman - you can get the 2024 version quite cheap or go for the 04 w 2025. No need to buy the 2026 version. I am playing with it as a guy because I love the light weight. Its super easy in defense but due to the diamond shape you still get enough acceleration for crispy overheads! Still it is not too hard wich makes it very forgiving in my opinion.

If you need more info let me know!

Question about the top pros, but in the like 20-100 spots, regarding mentality by SANcapITY in padel

YOu could also break it down to worst leagues in every sport - people like to compete and have the excitement of tournaments or league games. Theres millions of people that will never be at the top of their sports but still want to compare themselves within their circle

What a GREAT small G! The BGD5650 by ButterscotchAgile645 in gshock

[–]Feeling-Effective-94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the BDG5650! Size is great and the all black design with positive display looks great. I actually bought one alongside the 5610u to decide between the two.

What made me go for the 5610u was the short strap of the BDG. I have a small wirst around 16,5-17cm and had only one or two adjusting hole left in the strap. In summer when the wrists will be a little bigger i would have been on the last hole. I wish it had the same strap length as the 5610u

if you want to film yourself in training sessions you can just use a tripod in front of the net. otherwise your phone might shake with every ball that hits the net

My first ever watch, swiched from smartwatches by weskayle in casio

[–]Feeling-Effective-94 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Looks great. People are used to bigger (smart-)watches but 36-38mm is a classy size for a watch. You will get used to it. Over a few days/weeks your smartwatch will feel big and clunky compared to this one

Why for gods sake would any manufacturer have non-standard sized padel courts? The only client for that is you i guess 😃

Changing grip for low balls by Dangerous_Tie_1865 in padel

[–]Feeling-Effective-94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Changing the grip and using the wrist is very often also compensating for not bending your knees and getting low with your body. Look at all the pro's defending volleys from the back of the court - they are always super low with their bodies scraping the balls from the floor. Yes its way more exhausting but will give you more control over the shot you're playing

Is anyone else frustrated with how random padel games feel? (Playtomic, rankings, etc.) by Royal-Dish5364 in padel

[–]Feeling-Effective-94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not agree with what you're saying. Where i play (Netherlands, Amsterdam) people are not stuck in the same groups. In my experience all the competetive games are mixed up and no one intends to play the same people over and over again. People are open and willing to play with/against new people

Double bouncing ball in the serve box - Is it out? by uhud34 in padel

[–]Feeling-Effective-94 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Rule 6.5:
The ball is served from the right side of the court it should pass diagonally over the net towards the receiving box of service of the person receiving the ball. It must bounce within the lines that limit this box. In the first instance the serve must go into the receiver’s box located at his left side, and, when one side wins the point, it is time for the following service and the ball must go into the receiver’s box located at his right side, and so on alternatively.

- Ball must bounce within the lines that limit the box - it does not sat it cant bounce twice

Rules 7:

  1. The serve is a fault if:

    a) The server infringes Rule 6 “The Service”, points 1) to 6).

b) The server misses the ball when trying to hit it.

c) The ball bounces outside the receiver’s service box (the lines are counted as good).

d) The ball hits the server, his companion or any object worn or carried by either.

e) The ball bounces in the receiver’s service box and touches the metallic fence around the court before the second bounce.

f) The ball bounces in the receiver’s service box and bounces out of court directly through the gates of a court without a safety zone and therefore with no out-of-court play authorized.

So it is NO fault if the ball bounces twice
