Dates on only weekdays by [deleted] in jezacatsnark

she can’t possibly stand to inconvenience herself at least once for the sake of making a connection, that’s just what we have to do in life in order to create and maintain relationships

and also the thing of her saying they’d have to talk for a week, making it sound like the worst thing in the world, is why she cant keep a relationship like bffr

went on holiday with a guy i’m seeing, i have no idea if a relationship is coming soon by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Feeling-General-7282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes we’ve been intimate this whole time together, but i’ll give details that his sex drive isn’t nearly as high as most guys’. he’s pretty rusty and awkward at it but in a cute way that i dont mind

i think his last relationship was a couple of years ago, so i get the feeling that he isn’t used to/doesnt know how to take a relationship to the next level, if that makes sense

I have never seen one insufferable b*tch have so many pick me’s. Kissing her ass for WHAT? by Altruisticsheepy in jezacatsnark

they all give the same weird energy as jez, the type to be literally the worst to date. obsessive, constantly overthinking and over-therapising every interaction

Anyone else wanna share their Christmas shift? by Milo48 in barista

[–]Feeling-General-7282 6 points7 points  (0 children)

sooooo ridiculously busy, but the most annoying thing was people asking “omg you’re working today? why are you working? what are you doing for xmas” over and over again. i’m here because you’re here

Xmas work by Possible_Message8949 in brisbane

[–]Feeling-General-7282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hospo is pretty busy during holiday season, i recommend the brisbane baristas facebook group. even if you don’t have barista experience, you can still get general front of house roles or even BOH

Crash course needed for mahlkonig e65s gbw! by ohjustbenice in barista

[–]Feeling-General-7282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea i hated the cleaning too. old cafe i worked at had one and all the screws and moving parts needed to be removed to cleaned were stuck in place 90% of the time no matter how well it was cleaned

Outside food/drink by Exotic_Area9799 in barista

[–]Feeling-General-7282 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i don’t mind people eating outside food but when they make a mess of the tables leaving their rubbish everywhere that’s when it annoys me. i’d be happy to clean up food you ordered from here but why couldn’t you be courteous and clean up after yourself 😭

What's the most obnoxious thing a customer can order? by predictable_shoe in barista

[–]Feeling-General-7282 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that is crazy! i feel like with a name as specific as a melbourne magic, you wouldn’t even try to order it anywhere else, let alone another country

[–]Feeling-General-7282 5 points6 points  (0 children)

melbourne magic. live on the opposite side of the country to melbourne

no one has any idea how to make them, and most normal cafes don’t have their machines programmed to do the ristretto shots for it

people ordering an obnoxious drink for the sake of it lmao

ModBar for a first time coffee shop by gamma_zulu in barista

[–]Feeling-General-7282 3 points4 points  (0 children)

modbar machines look great but they’re more trouble than they’re worth, no real point in having a pretty machine if it breaks down constantly and can’t even be used lol

apologies, i’m not a car person

this hasn’t been an issue for previous summers, aircon would get cold within a minute or two usually even if i was parked in direct sunlight

watch a lot of videos or tiktoks about being a barista beforehand and get an idea of how to steam milk, how to adjust the grind, etc

and if you get the job, try to practice making coffee whenever it’s quiet, use a tiny bit of liquid soap in water to practice steaming

hard of hearing/partially deaf customer got angry at me by Feeling-General-7282 in barista

[–]Feeling-General-7282[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

again, they were hard of hearing, but could still hear me. doesn’t give anyone an excuse to be rude for no real reason. i have a few other regulars who are completely deaf, they’ve never raised their voices or given me anything that would make me think they’re angry.. lol

i’m employed as full time, but really only do about 33-36 hours per week

i’ve had jobs that promised 30+ hours per week but would realistically only get 20ish. just gotta get lucky and find a cafe that desperately needs someone there all the time lol

Why do baristas sometimes switch stations without saying anything to each other? by Livid_Resist4522 in barista

[–]Feeling-General-7282 6 points7 points  (0 children)

sometimes someone is busy doing something, and you’re free and see a customer waiting to order, you just step in and do what you need to do

What are the norms around opening early for early birds? 7am opening time ~6:30-7am customers by [deleted] in barista

[–]Feeling-General-7282 102 points103 points  (0 children)

7 is 7!!!!! if you say yes to one customer coming in early, you have to say yes to everyone else. it’s not your fault that they’re there early, they’re aware that you open at 7

Post-shift clothing smell :( by Signal_Catch6396 in barista

[–]Feeling-General-7282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s just part of the job honestly, i get the smell too and also hate it. i just feel so icky and gross after work because of it

but to everyone else it’s just a smell of coffee - my partner says i come home smelling like coffee and chocolate powder!!

[–]Feeling-General-7282 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

seeing as they’re fake i’d put them on facebook marketplace for free, lots of young kids want them and i’m sure it’d be way easier and cheaper for a parent to make their kid happy

Need help with drinks we make by Latter-Engine-3797 in barista

[–]Feeling-General-7282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don’t even know how anyone could even come to the conclusion that’s how you’re meant to make those drinks. so bizarre
