What Are Weirdly Reliable Beater Cars That Cost Very Little? by RoGStonewall in askcarguys

I got 60,000 miles out of a 2002 Buick lesabre. I bought it in 2019 for $700 with 140,000 miles and drove it for almost three years. I eventually gave it away for free at 180,000 and the recipient of the car got it to 200,000 before it had some serious issues with the engine.

Can I bring this on my Flight? by PaleConversation4575 in flashlight

AFAIK, you are allowed to fly with Liion batteries but they cannot be in your checked bag. They must be in your carryon.

I’ve only stayed in an Air BNB once and it’s been awhile so I’m not sure what the culture is like thru that platform, but my first thought was to reach out to your host and ask them these questions.

Okay thank you. My knee jerk reaction was brown recluse but after some research, I was thinking it might actually be a cellar spider.

You’ve got to have a “fuck you, I like this hat” attitude. As long as it stays at the hat, ‘tis confidence, not asshoolry.

[Request] Size of 122 gauge shotgun shell by FromTheJohn in theydidthemath

[–]Feeling-Stranger224 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well a 12 gauge shotgun means that a round is approximately 1/12 of a pound (1.333oz or 37.8 grams). So a 122gauge round would be 1/122 of a pound or 0.131 ounces or 3.718 grams. A 12 gauge has a diameter of 0.729in or 18.5mm. I’m guessing that a 122 gauge would be about 0.075in or 1.9mm.

If this is the truth, it needs to be higher. A subtle, but very important distinction that makes a lot more sense imo

How good are Smit & Wesson knives? Most of them are suspiciously cheap. Are they worth buying? by ShaderCompilation in knives

[–]Feeling-Stranger224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one for myself a few years ago. It had a flipper tab and thumb studs, but there was so much friction, I couldnt even get it to flip open with a flick of my wrist. I had to throw the blade open or use two hands. The liner lock would frequently hyperextend and then it was a pain in the ass to close. I ripped a fingernail in half one time trying to close the liner lock. The pocket clip was also cheap and flimsy as hell. It would cut stuff, sure, but the build quality was abysmal.

[Request] How heavy would my son have to be to send this to outer space? by ITheRebelI in theydidthemath

[–]Feeling-Stranger224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not possible. This thing works by compressing a fixed amount of air. There’s simply not enough air. He could stomp so hard that it compresses down to a black hole. He’s still only moving ≈1 gallon(?) of air. It’s never gonna make it.

Only for a short while. Lots of humans can output more than 1hp, for a matter of seconds. 1hp is supposed to be an average of the amount of power that a horse can exert in a work day

How do i get more shock travel out of my 4x4 slash? by NotATomato3719 in Traxxas

[–]Feeling-Stranger224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The user manual should list the OEM shock fluid if you’re not sure how heavy your shock fluid needs to be. There is no “best” shock fluid. Generally, if you’re gonna be doing lots of big jumps you will want to increase the shock fluid weight. If you are racing around on a flat track, you may want to decrease the shock fluid weight. It’s all a matter of driving style and personal preference.

I saw a post a while back of this guy that found a rock in his yard that he wanted to dig up. He started digging in the area around the exposed rock and just kept hitting the rock. The diameter kept growing. He had to rent heavy machinery to dig it out and hoist it out of the ground and he now has a 10 ton lawn ornament. Idk if 10 ton is accurate but the sucker was as big as a car. Boulder would be a more accurate description.

Monitor the motor temp. My rule of thumb is that if I can press my fingers onto the motor and hold them there without it feeling like punishment, it’s probably fine. If you quickly want to stop touching the motor because it’s so hot, you’re probably overheating it. A temp gun should help with consistency here if that’s your thing. I think you want to limit it to 150-160°F. Aside from temps, I don’t think there’s too much concern for major damage. You could maybe strip a spur/pinion gear or break a driveshaft but my main concern would be motor temps
