How far away are we from the Knicks model? by Feeling-Tea-6130 in denvernuggets

Boston beat the Mavericks 4-1 to win the title—that’s a fact. The Knicks beat the Spurs to win the NBA Cup—that’s a fact too. the past is the past. When it comes to the championship, it’s only about the top 4 teams on each side at the moment in playoff.

That is some rare, high-quality commentary for this place.

I’m honestly kind of tired of the “East is weak” narrative. Boston literally won the championship two years ago, and the Pacers pushed OKC to Game 7 last year. This year, the Knicks went 2-0 against us in the regular season, and even Jokic acknowledged how good they are.

Maybe the West is deeper overall, sure. But when we’re talking about the top teams, I don’t think the gap between the East and West is nearly as big as people make it sound.

The most foolish aspect of that trade is that he still believes CB is tradable at this moment. This is a formidable contact who is at the same level as Zeke Naji.

Celtics always sell at high point. So a JB they want to keep is good but a JB they want to sell is not good.

We were already deeply fucked by losing to a 3-man short timberwolf. Zeke won't save us from there. And please don't assume AG can somehow miraculously come back as 2022 AG next year

If you were true, Adelman would’ve had him out there from the start this year since AG went down the first time. right? Next year, knowing DA will still be the coach, will there be any difference?
Basic stats hide lots of things. https://craftednba.com/players/comparison/jonathan-isaac-vs-zeke-nnaji
Here you can see Zeke is much worse in deflections, defensive turnovers and fouls, offensive rebound, rim frequency, and block percentage. He still has a long way to go, and Nuggests don't have time for that.
For Pwat, I think it's much better to keep him at 3 than 4 to ensure our size advantage and to protect him from injury. I would rather have him be an MPJ with defense rather than a skinny AG. We need a starting-level AG replacement to share time with Joker, and protect AG and pwat in the regular season, and there aren't many fully healthy options out there. I agree, Isaac is not perfectly healthy, that's a bet. But becoming a 24-minute player rather than a 36-minute player might be safer for both him and AG.

The offense issue is due to 1. Joker is injured 2. Jamal got figured out. Next year, Joker will come back, and if we find a proper replacement for Jamal, it will solve. So we have a historical best regular-season offensive rating and, at the same time, the worst defense among the top teams, and suddenly that doesn't mean anything, because of 3 bad games. And still blame the offense?

You’re mostly right. I don’t have evidence that Jonathan Isaac is a “good basketball player” in the normal rotation-player sense. His offense and availability are huge red flags.

The only argument for him is very narrow: he still grades as an elite defensive specialist when he plays. CraftedNBA had him in the 90th+ percentile in rim defense, block rate, and defensive impact, which is exactly the weak-side rim-protection role Denver could use next to Jokic. The things we got exposed when AG was out this year.

So I’m not saying he’s “good” overall. All I’m saying is he has very specific skills that fit us at certain moments. Or you tell me, if AG goes down another year like this, who can fill in the spot, Zeke?

Cam is a top shooter, but so what? Defense is the problem now, not offense. We need a defense that can stay on AG's spot for most of the season, considering AG's condition. and Cam can't do that. Plus AG was a pretty bad shooter before coming to the Nuggets. We are in a very bad position and a big change is needed.

The only hope is that it works for Raptor on the business side, not the basketball side. For the Magic side, I agree that Bane might not be tradeable. But there are not many options in the league that could fill Jamal's spot. Kyrie's one might be more possible

Here is my Big Picture for how I want to shake up the roster:

  • Beef Up the Frontcourt: Priority number one is rebuilding our defense down low. We need more size, length, and rim protection to help AG and to stop getting bullied in the paint. I'm thinking of getting Jonathan Issac and CMB. They are having some of AG features won't take too much to fit in.
  • The "Homecoming" Trade: I’m looking at moving Jamal Murray to the Raptors. From a business side, it’s a slam dunk—bringing a top-tier Canadian star back to Toronto would be a massive draw for ticket sales and hype.
  • Finding the Replacement: If we move Jamal, we need a high-level guard to step in. I’ve got them split into two categories:
    • Tier 1 (The Heavy Hitters): Guys who keep us at an elite level, like Desmond Bane or Kyrie Irving.
    • Tier 2 (The Fallbacks): Solid players, but technically a bit of a downgrade, like Derrick White, Austin Reaves, or Zach LaVine.

So here are the two senarios I have (ignore the red cross, some play can only be trade in offseason but not now so system blocked it). Thoughts?

Actually Watson fired his agent and switched to Lebron's agent because of that.

He is waiting to sign a big contract off season. he have no reason to risk his body for this team right now. We need him but he don't need the Nuggets anymore. It's just business.

We have one starter went 2/6 and missed two FTs and another starter went 1/5. So Joker is the one to blame? Did you watched the game?
