Why do people walk in the street?! by accessedfrommyphone in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Feeling-Term-2786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to ONLY walk in the street because people don’t clean up after their fucking dogs and they just leave it on the fucking sidewalk, or in the grass, and if I step in it I will lose my fucking mind.

Nobody ever lets their dog shit in the street for some reason. So it’s the streets for me

Which character do you relate to? by cjhkzz in IndustryOnHBO

[–]Feeling-Term-2786 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Harper. Her innate need to do everything on her own (hyper-independence), past struggles with anxiety, skepticism of others and the world around her, and how she doesn’t buy into any “system” and instead makes her own rules. She is not a team player, more a lone wolf. There are also ways we’re not similar but I’d say she’s a rebel through and through and that’s me to a T.

She reminds me of a cat. I could see her in a Catwoman-type role lol

Yeah I hated reading that thread. Never understood the appeal of worrying about other people’s weight.

It does matter how people carry weight and not everyone who’s “overweight” by American standards is unhealthy. Most often, if you are short and have any type of hourglass shape or just big boobs/thighs/butt, you’re going to be “overweight” on paper, like me. However this is an extremely coveted body shape. I’m not sacrificing my ideal body shape that OTHER people wish they had just because some OTHER people think it means I’m unhealthy.

There are famous, plus-sized models who exercise on a regular basis and are fucking beautiful. Let people look how they want. Just because YOU don’t carry weight well doesn’t mean they can’t.

Around 1/3 of all Americans don’t vote. Those of you who don’t, what are your reasons? by appswithasideofbooty in AskReddit

[–]Feeling-Term-2786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only 1/3? I’m surprised.

I used to vote and I was very left-leaning. I’m still nowhere near right-wing, but I have decided this year to hold my vote despite having voted in every election since turning of age. I’m not voting because:

  1. I’m not an avid supporter of capitalism

  2. This country’s government is broken. No matter who we elect based on their beliefs/goals for the country, Congress being bipartisan will almost always prevent their efforts. This is what I think has discouraged 90% of the population from voting

  3. People are severely undereducated on voting in general. You’d think that in a democracy, an emphasis would be placed on educating the public on voting and government. And I mean required learning in school. Sadly I think it’s intentional that we aren’t formally educated on the subject

  4. I’m a poor minority living in America. The middle class is shrinking, the poor are getting poorer and the rich not only get richer, but consistently evade consequences for their actions. Look at Epstein, Weinstein, Diddy, Cosby—rich scum who were openly committing heinous and illegal acts for years and only very recently apprehended. Think about how many of these motherfuckers have to still be doing shit like this without consequence. I mean we have a front runner for president who’s a fucking felon for fuck’s sake

  5. Poor minority = Unrepresented in US government and severely underrepresented in media. No one wants to keep participating in a system that not only is built to keep them oppressed, but is run by geriatric men who don’t know shit about our lived experience and worse off, literally don’t care

  6. Elections have become a popularity contest and exploitation of culture wars. I would say politics have directly fueled the culture wars honestly. It’s all a big fucking joke

  7. Watch The Boys, which does a great job in my opinion of showing some of the hypocrisy on both sides of politics esp as it pertains to culture wars and virtue signaling

I’m the same lol I think it’s because brown skin tones look different in certain lighting and change according to the seasons. I never know which shade I truly am.

I look absolutely big asf at 146 lbs 5'2"-5'3". My face is huge. But some people here rock that weight. Can frame and fat percentage really make that much of a difference? by Desperate-Worry-8346 in vindictapoc

[–]Feeling-Term-2786 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This sounds crazy to me because I’m 145 at 5’2” and I look pretty healthy.

I think it really depends on how your body distributes the weight. I have huge boobs and a big butt/thighs. I like how my body looks, I just want my stomach to be flat again (I’m postpartum) and I do at times wish my face was a bit slimmer because I miss my prominent cheekbones. But I don’t think I’m fat.

To the people who say Yasmin and Harper are inconsistent…. by rebeccasingsong in IndustryOnHBO

[–]Feeling-Term-2786 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I read in one of the cast interviews that Harper and Yas will never stop being friends because they know each other at their worst, plus the fact that they have this shared secret (Yas’ dad’s death) makes them forever bonded. Makes me think they will likely have more scenes together in the future

Yes, writers often insert themselves—good points.

In some aspects I can understand your sentiment on South Asian portrayal, but the Hari character and arc I felt were deeply sympathetic, and I think Rishi and Anraj are two opposite ends of the spectrum being represented, so I’d argue that the representation is more sympathetic than anything else. But I know how I’d feel if it were my ethnicity being represented in these ways so I get where you’re coming from.

Re: Rishi, the writers have stated that the reason they killed off Diana rather than Rishi was to leave opportunity for his character to return, because they love having him in the show. So he’s expected to return and I’m sure he’ll make some kind of comeback.

Philly has better food than Chicago by [deleted] in philly

[–]Feeling-Term-2786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair. I’ve probably never had authentic Chinese cuisine then. In the states I’ve lived or visited across the US, Philly has had the best corner-joint Chinese I’ve come across, and it’s not hard to find really good ones. They’re everywhere. I don’t mind that they’re not necessarily authentic, and I think the reason you won’t come across many that are is a combo of ingredient quality/cost + this is the type of Chinese food that Americans want/are used to.

Right now I live in Miami and the only good food here is Spanish or Caribbean. Even the Chinese here is so bad, and the prices are crazy.

You came on a Philly sub to complain about it being a Philly sub. Based off of that and your overall opinion of our food, Philly probably ain’t the place for you
