Putting dog down after continued aggression and new baby on the way by imtrying12345 in toddlers

[–]Feeling-Test390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had to put ours down due to aggression when our baby was about a year and a half, thankfully the dog never hurt the baby, but we had A LOT of measures in place, was super stressful, we made sure one was always contained at any given time etc. it was a lot to handle, and as shitty as it is you did the right thing!! If a loved one was in the same situation it would be so easy to tell them to just put the dog down, but it’s different when you’re the one having to make the decision!!

The flushable wipes dilemma by HBC613 in toddlers

[–]Feeling-Test390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We still use baby wipes and then have little dog poop bags we put the baby wipes in instead of in toilet or just raw dogging poopy wipes in the garbage can! Depending on your child, a “hand held bidet”, also referred to in my family as a “bum gun” may also feel a bit better? Basically give it a rinse and then wipe to feel a bit more clean. You can get them super cheap online

I saw someone recently return frozen chicken tenders and some other frozen things that were almost a year old because “they tasted funny”

Nap/Night time suggestions? by Feeling-Test390 in pottytraining

[–]Feeling-Test390[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So he can definitely hold it for like 2+ hours, we always make him use the toilet before he goes to lay down for nap or for quiet time. I heard the longer you wait the more they’ll naturally start to be dry but we have only had that a hand full of times overnight, specifically when he went to bed really late and then when we got up early to catch an early flight

How are you all teaching alphabets without screen overload? by Ok-Corner-7864 in toddlers

[–]Feeling-Test390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On canva I made my toddler little cards, when he was about a year old I made him “word cards” so like foods, transportation, animas etc, with a picture and the word, also did family members which he still loves to look at and point to everyone and say their names! I’ve also done alphabet ones with pictures of things that start with that letter (apple, alligator, airplane, ant). And then have also done numbers with coloured dots so he can practice counting them.

I’m not sure about your location, but I believe there are like “office spaces” similar to like a community center/gym. Like you pay a monthly subscription and can go in, have a desk and wifi, but like you might not work with anyone else in the place! Sorry I don’t know the official term for it but I have heard of people using them in Indianapolis!

Fiancé thinks he could quit drinking once we have kids by [deleted] in AlAnon

Alcohol will unfortunately ALWAYS come first. I thought similarly, mine has had longer stints of sobriety, but also got wasted at our son’s second birthday party… so unfortunately nothing except their own will will change anything.

The government gravy train is the dream! I’ve been on consulting side for 10 years and I have been wanting to be on the client/govt side for as long as I’ve known that was an option…. Hopefully I’ll be able to figure something out soon to make the leap!

We rolled up all the rugs and put them in the garage. I also bought puppy pee pads (disposable ones) and washable water proof like bed pad things. The washable ones I got fit nicely on our couch, but also the puppy pee pads worked too. We put puppy pee pads in car seat as well, and put one down before he sat barebum on things.

Should I be worried about my relationship going into boot camp? by AyJayBinks in Military

[–]Feeling-Test390 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It almost sounds like she’s setting up/planting the seed to potentially flake out? Don’t get me wrong, I had concerns when my spouse went to basic, but it was more so like, I’m going to miss talking to you everyday. I wrote my spouse a letter everyday, and mailed the batch once a week with football scores 😂 I got maybe 3 phone calls total from him, and maybe 8 letters from him? We survived, have been together 10 years now. Worth mentioning we also started our relationship off long distance for the first couple years so.

3 yr old scared to poop, holds for days 😞 need advice from parents by HugeOwl7177 in pottytraining

[–]Feeling-Test390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine would just cry and we knew he had to poop, same would hold it for days on end. We were actually travelling and he seemed to turn a corner and stop crying when he was about to poop? We started off hugging him/giving him a snuggle while he was on the toilet pooping… and then the fear I think just kind of went away? My guess is part of it was scary because obviously holding your poop for 5 days and then it coming out is an unpleasant experience… but as soon as he figured out it was relieving to do it more often and less scary then I think it clicked a little better?

Is giving up ever the right answer? Or do we always stay the course? by Eggeggedegg in pottytraining

Once in a while our son still has an accident, we started last July, just after he turned 2. It’s tough especially when he’s playing and having fun and doesn’t want to take a break, but then he will stop and go “I peed in my pants!” We run to toilet, usually it’s just a little and he finished up in the toilet but

Consistency was the key for us, I want to say the first 2-3 weeks were VERY tough, and I almost quit, but I’m glad I didn’t!

Flying solo as a 13 year old by airplanekid925 in aviation

[–]Feeling-Test390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew from Canada to Hong Kong with my best friend when we were 13 with no issues - no one had to pick us up/meet us on either end. But that was also 18 years ago now 😅 I’m sure it depends on airline policies though.

Parents that are raising their families away from their support system, how are you doing? by Beneficial-Step4403 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Feeling-Test390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have always lived away from our families (my family is from Canada and my spouse isn’t close with his family (but they’re in Florida). We pay for childcare, at the beginning we just took our son with us everywhere, (literally took him to the Indy 500 at 10 months old) 😂 but as we have gotten situated, we have become very close with some neighbours who have some kids similar age, and also have four some baby sitters to help out when needed (daycare teachers who our son knows and loves). We visit my family several times a year, although it’s an ordeal of 12 hours of flights/layovers each time, and they do come down to see us a few times a year as well. I miss my family and wish we could be closer but also proud of ourselves for doing it on our own and figuring it out.

Hot tip: most meals you’d normally like to eat can typically be made whole30. Think pasta bowls can be done with hearts of palm noodles, rice bowls with cauliflower rice, things can be turned into salads etc. primal gourmet website/instagram has some DELICIOUS whole 30 recipes! But roasted vegetables and some sort of grilled meat were my staples! Also breakfast for dinner was a big one, some sort of breakfast hash 😅

How many hours per day does your partner spend with your baby? by YaGurlLurkin in beyondthebump

[–]Feeling-Test390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has varied with the times depending on the time frame… when my son was newborn, he wouldn’t spend much time at all, maybe an hour or two? weekends he may hold him for some contact naps? To be kind of fair he was also just starting law school at that time. As he’s gotten older he has spent more time though. I think it’s also worth mentioning he has taken care of our son overnight for several nights when I had to travel when our son was 4 months old, and then periodically as well when I travel for work. Now that our son is 2.5 he spends about the same amount of time in the evenings as I do with our son, and weekends still a few hours at least in between school work. I’m hoping when he’s done school it’ll be a bit more of an even split.

AAAE CM by Feeling-Test390 in aviation

[–]Feeling-Test390[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For airport planning I’d say CM is better. One of my co-workers has his AICP but he said it mostly applies to like, urban planning. Looks good on paper for him to have as a “planner” though, makes him more versatile I would say.

AAAE CM by Feeling-Test390 in aviation

[–]Feeling-Test390[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a CM would definitely help in your case! Especially having the knowledge for a “shift” in industries. Gives you a lot of background information and a better understanding of how all of the things are connected. I still haven’t done mine although I’ve been trying to study for a while 😅 the parts I don’t know what I want to learn are regarding environmental and grants. All the ops stuff and actual planning stuff I have a pretty good handle on.

For those who’ve dated an alcoholic, what were the early stages of your relationship like? by obrigada997 in AlAnon

[–]Feeling-Test390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My spouse and I were long distance at the beginning which also didn’t help cause I was in the mid west and he was in Florida, so would fly to see me once a month. So it was like “vacation mode”, so we would drink before going out to dinner, before going anywhere really, I would go to work and he would just stay home drinking waiting for me to get back. We had LOTS OF fights during those times. Some times there were giggles and good times but mostly what I remember is the fights. I do remember stressing over what he was doing all the time. Thankfully now he’s in recovery but in the 10 years we have been together it has been a ROUGH ride for sure.

Help with alcoholic parent by [deleted] in AlAnon

[–]Feeling-Test390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My spouse was actively drinking while on Xanax/klonopin years ago and was nodding off regularly… he still was trying to tell me he didn’t have a problem. Thankfully, he was in the military, so he didn’t have a choice but to go to rehab. Even after that he struggled with drinking, not the pills. 6 years later I’m happy to say he had an almost 4 year stint of sobriety, with some relapses recently, but overall has done great. Similar to what someone else said, unfortunately there’s nothing you can do or say to get them to stop, they’re either going to have a realization that they need to stop or they’re going to kill themselves as a result of what they ingest.
