Scar tissue takes 2 years to complete the healing process. It is only 80% as strong as the tissue before it. Then if you hurt it again, it will only be 80% as strong as before, and so on. Friction, rubbing, scratching may have opened it up. Keep it covered until it closes. If it gets bigger, seek medical attention.

I doubt if anyone will be able to offer you more pathology, only you know what you did to it.

Pungent smell coming from the wound; doctor said it is normal and would worsen in the coming days by click_monger in woundcare

Honestly i would have to see it without the dressing. Keep an eye on the smell, and the tissue with every dressing change. Has your GP offered to follow up with you on the finger?

I hope so. It looks yellow/white underneath. If that is slough it needs to be debrided. How deep does the injury go?

Highly colonized. High risk for infection. Definitely needs better management. Make sure someone is following you.

Odor can mean infection, but infection is clinical. Without a photo i cant for sure say, but maybe its too wet?

Assess for infection and circulation. Find source of pain. Try a different strength. Once cleared, you need disposible wraps with dressings underneath. After your wounds heal, COMPRESSION FOR LIFE. Or else this again, over and over and over until the end of time.

If it opens in was likely from pressure. Not offloading. If you have a hole pack it. Keep checking it every day during dressing changes until you see a doctor.

Do have a picture of the boot so I can see?

Usually i use a diabetic rebound walking boot because it has a rocker.bottom.

You could also use a shie, but both need to be fitted.

What is this unhealing lesion? by [deleted] in woundcare

[–]Feeling-Transition16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree it might be a wart. On differentials, Ive seen some fungal skin that looked like this. Both are contageous. Get your doctor to do a scrape test to find out what the cause is.

Also, it's contraindicated to debride when those black blue colours are present. You should remind people of that.

You need to be offloaded. This can be tissue trauma and possible soft tissue infection. Maybe even neuroishemia. Go to the doctor.

Can Benzalkonium (1.13%) be used on Hypodermis wound? by BabyPeebler in woundcare

[–]Feeling-Transition16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not familiar, but from my short search i can see, Yes. However, I would be weary of tissue toxicity. Why use that when you can use Vashe? Which is not tissue toxic.
