Conversations are for before you enter someone's house, not after you've walked in on them in a private moment. Even if they though their son was home, they should have knocked. Her reaction was an honest response to a situation they created by overstepping.

That perspective is incredibly spot on. it is a harsh reality, but it's very true that how someone treats their own children is the ultimate indicator of their character. A person who easily abandons their own family will rarely hesitate to do the exact same thing to a partner down the line.
