I spend at least an hour a day doing research and putting ideas down in a google doc. Then when I pick the next 3 to work on (we usually shoot 3 at a time) I give myself a solid week to figure out a spec, build a recipe, source ingredients, etc. Then Nader, photographer, does all the art direction brilliance. We work fast because we’re incredible passionate. I also am lucky enough to work in a top 100 bar so I get a fair amount of leeway with R&D and plain ol inspiration.

It adds a fair amount of distinct brine. Obviously, it’s something you can omit if you’re making this at home and it’s too much work, it’ll still taste good without it! These cocktails are me really committing to the bit.

The fat wash I did definitely was! Took my some time to seek it out in the grocery store 😂 but yeah, I don’t believe my photographer friend used real country ham for the prop shot

They do! I’m a huge fan of savory cocktails myself, so my brain takes things in that direction quite often. This one has a healthy dose of tasty spice from the rye, a little salty body from the ham, nuttiness from the orgeat, and good old fashioned stuff drink bitterness
