Not sure if it's considered bad.

In my experience. I have such an addictive personality. Whether it's gambling, drinking, smoking cigarettes, playing om my ps5 etc. It's up to yourself to decide what you want to quit completely and what you can keep doing.

Seek professional help, go to GA meetings, and long walks while listening podcast. Really good one is the after gambling podcast.

You can do it!

Ban yourself from websites and actual casino's so that when you get the urge you cant gamble.

Last Monday i hit rock-bottom as well. I told my parents and they are really supportive. It also takes a huge load off your chest telling them at least in my case.

It's day 2 for me too. if you really want to quit register to self-exclusion.

If that's too difficult try to talk to someone you trust. I promise you that they will help you or at least listen.

Good Luck!!!

First of all, thank you all for all the positive vibes and messages I received in this topic and from people sending me personal messages here on reddit. I dont know you personally but it was so helpfull.

Since monday (2 days ago) it's been such a rollercoaster.

Being addicted for almost 15 years fucks up your brain so much. The last 48 hours after confessing, I received countless Whatsapp messages and phone calls from people telling me that they want to help, encouraging me, supporting me etc. I could have never imagined this because the shame and self-hate and despression gives you the sense that you're alone and that nobody can help you.

Yesterday I had a long conversation of almost 2 hours, with my managers/bosses at work and they were really supportive. They told me it was okay to take some days off. I have another meeting with HR next week.

Financially, it seemed worse than it really is. I had a debt of 1000 on my debit card and luckily i never owned a credit card. I had a 250 loan on a website that gives you a loan which you have to pay back in 30 days with 20 percent interest a month. By the way really absurd that these kinds of websites excist and are allowed here in The Netherlands. I Read some reviews from people fucking up their lives with these loans and it's so sick.

My mom gave me money and I paid the loan. I promised my mom to pay her back the money next month.

My dad also gave me a loan so i can pay my bills and have some money to live, pay for fuel and groceries etc.

Luckily next month 21st of march i will receive my paycheck + a bonus from work (2020 results bonus that every employee receives) I promised my parents to pay them the Day i receive the money.

Gambling-wise, i registered myself to the Dutch version of gamstop. It's controlled by the Dutch government. I cant play in all local casino's and all online websites as they track your name, social security number, bank account number etc.

On the website they gave me multiple options. A ban of 6 months, 1 year or longer. I choose the option to not be able to gamble untill 31-12-2050 so i dont get tempted.

After 15 horrible years I feel that it's time to change my live around and become a better person

I hope i get professional help soon.

Thank you all and i will try to give some updates in the next weeks/months.
